Cares more about making money, than making great security products!

I have been working at McAfee full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and mostly great people (below Director level). There are a few higher up who "get it", but probably won't stay around long. Intel has finally had enough, and is fully absorbing McAfee.

    Cons

Buys companies that make good security products instead of developing their own. McAfee leadership is totally out of touch, and are too interested in hearing themselves talk.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Embrace Intel. They understand security. Actually read the comments of your employees. Stop rewarding only those who say yes and kiss the ground you walk on. Slow down and make things secure to safeguard customers instead of rushing to market for a quick sale.

I have been working at McAfee full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

McAfee is somewhat of a melting pot in the talent pool. Great for breaking into sales and opens doors to move into other companies. GREAT atmosphere, very family like between employees on the sales floor.

    Cons

If you're not in the buddy system, plan to stay in your position with a small base and aggressive quota

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If management would take more interest in retaining/growing existing sales talent instead of hiring college recruits there would be more stability. It's also a common theme to interview for a position that either you sought out or they approach you for and then go silent. Silence and disconnects are a problem when attempting to advance unless you're apart of the buddy program.

I worked at McAfee part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Very relaxed culture, pay depends on performance (if you are working in sales), upper management is very helpful with entry level positions

    Cons

Not the highest prestige, personal growth opportunities limited, can get complacent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more strict policies and increase the brand image of the company to draw in better talent

Global presence, entrepreneurial environment, broad product line

    Cons

There are a lot of vivas working there and management enables this behavior

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are too many titles and levels of employees within the company; need to streamine

I have been working at McAfee full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is decent, but definitely depends on your hiring manager. The facility is very nice and has a nice cafe The computer provided was a dell and the IT dept. helps very quickly with any technical issues. The culture depends on the organization and the managing executive for that particular org. Overall people leave work at 5, and that's expected.

    Cons

Executive leadership is really bad. It's a good ole' boys' club which disgusts many of the employees. Upper management is viewed as being less than sincere and it's hurting morale across the board. Intel has now accelerated the process of swallowing the wholly owned subsidiary and there is so much change going on, the instability is demotivating. At least 2 rounds of layoffs a year and raises are slim to none.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being sexist, stop promoting unqualified people for personal reasons (i.e. giving jobs to people that kiss up to you or happen to look a certain way) and realize that the people are what make the company ...so worry about morale and take the employee survey seriously. Stop spending outrageous amounts of money on executive entertainment and compensate your people.

    Pros

    Lots of technologies
    Company is everywhere
Some parts of strategy make a lot of sense.
Many clever people working for Mcafee

    Cons

    Not always good at executing.
People seem to come and leave all the time
Tend to buy technology instead of building it themselves
    Bad at account management

    Pros

Company in the right space in terms of security. Products are proven and clients are generally happy with the services offered. Upside is fairly strong with the Intel merger.

    Cons

Intel takeover has made things a bit different. Good initially, however not sure about how things have played out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider the big picture, There are opportunities to make the organization a better place if you can think locally and globally, however there aren't many ways to enjoy success without a sense of direction. Inspire...lead...enjoy.
