Production lines are poorly utilized and even more poorly scheduled

I have been working at McCormick & Company full-time for less than a year

ProsGreat employees, on or above board pay and benefits, good work environment, the rank and file really treat people very well and are incredibly helpful

ConsManagement is disconnected from reality. Manufacturing operations would collapse without forced overtime. This is actually a 24/7 operation that is pitched to employees as a 24/5 operation, just be honest and do it right. Production stops for meetings, meetings, meetings, and more meetings. Huge emphasis on corporate politics.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet out on the shop floor. Listen to your employees, don't just provide lip service. Stop abusing the workforce more than you abuse the equipment. Say what you do, do what you say, your credibility is grossly suffering.

I have been working at McCormick & Company full-time

Prosvacation time, benefit package, 401k and a pension, friendly people to work with, pay is average to start you need to stay a long time to make good money

Conswork schedules are horrible. the dreaded over and under schedule {12 hour days} along with short notice for weekend work are very bad

Advice to Senior Managementet out of your offices, come on the production floor, and see what is going on

More good then bad.

I worked at McCormick & Company full-time for more than a year

ProsOk pay, wonderful benefits package, free medical screens no co-pay for service or medication given at there facility.very stable company, tuition reimbursement after one year, opportunities for advancement(for those with a yes sir attitude) and incredible work life balance.ex:your allowed to use and "8hourday" slip once a month and alternative schedule. You get to take off a whole week with sick pay and it'll will be considered 1 occurrence out of the 7 your allowed per year..

Consvery intrusive they will send a private investigator out if your sick for a while and when u damage any case you have to take a urine test each time and sometimes blood! your productivity is "timed" at the belcamp facility, and management will not compromise in that regard.your notified about weekend work only one day before.the older people snitch on you on a daily basis they have a culture that makes it ok for your co-worker to get you fired, even on minuscule issues.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen people are telling you that a manager is disrespecting every selector it should be taking seriously.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Not Quite What They Like to Think They Are

Anonymous Manager (Former Employee)
Baltimore, MD

I worked at McCormick & Company

ProsStable food industry company;
Good broad career training with their Multiple Management Board.
Free samples & cheap/discounted products @ company store
Free health & wellness screenings

ConsSlow in processes; Too highly conservative in approaches; Slow to change
Slow career advancement
Finance dominated culture (if not in finance org)
Poor vocation specific training support

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to bring in more outside blood, especially middle management people in areas beside US Consumer Marketing & Sales. Shared Services organizations needs to be reviewed and revised. These organizations are holding McCormick back.

Great quality products, Stable Company, Low Personal Development

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at McCormick & Company

ProsBenefits are available - just inconsistent for non HQ locations, Stability - want to remain independent, Great Products, Give back to Community

ConsInvestment is in manufacturing and Supply Chain instead of people development. Lack of innovation on training, personal development, marketing is surprising given market leader position in categories. Tools and policies are outdated and leads to inconsistencies / lack of perceived fairness when some departments and managers initiate more progressive expectations or apply common sense.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in people and their development. Also, resources, marketing and products are looking outdated.Once the economy turns around, will result in loss of educated, skilled workforce who are exposed to more progressive companies with better salaries and development opportunities
