    Cons-Management quality differs from shift-to-shift

ProsCulture based on strong values and people. Great products and strong brands. Employees work hard and are dedicated to the company.

ConsConsensus driven organization; we don't have enough tough conversations. Should spend more resouces on technology. Need to improve visibility to career paths and increase focus on employee development.

Advice to Senior ManagementTalk to employees on a regular basis, mingle, interact with all levels and increase visibility. Hold leaders accountable for performance management and employee development. Share information.

    Nice place to work

    (Former Employee)

ProsPeople always need food, and in economic downturns, they cook more - the company seems pretty stable. The people are very friendly, the company cares about employees, and is well-managed. You can get lots of positive feedback, even from upper management, if you do a good job and stand out. They have acquired quite few brands since I worked there, which seems like a good sign, but I don't know how the integrations went.

ConsThe food industry can be a bit old-fashioned and McCormick is not a marketing or innovation leader. Company culture is somewhat conservative.

Advice to Senior ManagementValue innovation, creativity, and intelligence.

    IT pays to be honest

    Senior Manager (Current Employee)
    Hunt Valley, MD

ProsIt is a very people oriented company that offers many opportunities. Succession planning is a high priority within the organization and executives are typically promoted from within. There are many employee oriented events which employees can participate in and it is very family oriented. Everyone is very committed to the company, which leads to some people working on vacations, etc, which becomes expected of others. Depending on the division you work in, there are typically great advancement opportunities. It is a fair company that generally treats their employees well. I have been here more than 9 years and would highly recommend this company.

ConsEveryone has been here for a very long time (Average service: 14.5 years) and are stuck in their ways. Dedication and commitment along with corporate red tape is somtimes over the top. It is good to have processes and procedures in place, but let's be realistic about it sometimes. It hampers productivity. It can be really hard to move up the chain especially if you haven't been here long. Seniority has a lot to do with service and not necessarily performance. People company, but some events that has been long traditions are being eliminated and more is expected from everyone every day.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the good work!!

A good company with a great international strategy

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsOn top of their game in the industry
    Great Technology Center
    Very good Capital Program

    ConsCulture is intrusive
    Gossip is important
More seat of the pants than systemic

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate a world class culture with a balanced system of accountability between leaders and workers, based on sound leadership principles and performance. Move from a people centric culture to a performance culture. Create an incentive for professionalism and results. Reward people based on their individual contribution to growth of the organization as opposed to competition for personal gain.
