    - Coaches really care and work with coachees so they can be successful
    - Lots of opportunities for bonuses, promotions, and experience in different industries
    - Great clients, with a lot of opportunity to gain client experience
    - Very flexible with CPA Exam studying, and highly support employees to get it done
    - Very flexible with PTO, and really prides itself on the work/life balance
    - Partners and upper level management are very approachable and follow up with lower level employees upon being hired to make sure all is going well

Cons- Not the best tasting coffee in the office
    - Sometimes to many training's and conferences makes scheduling tough
    - Internet always seems to go out in the office

Advice to Senior ManagementHonestly, just keep up the great work. I am very happy with McGladrey and my decision to join the firm several years ago, as you can tell by the cons above (nothing significant). VERY HAPPY with how this company is run.

ProsGreat company to work for. Given plenty of resources to perform and exceed at each level. I've worked with many individuals in office across the U.S and continue to run into great employees. Great opportunity for promotions and advancement in your career.

ConsThis is a very fast paced industry that will involve a lot of time and dedication. Your success is really dependent on what you put into your career.

McGladrey LLP is a unique, middle market accounting and advising firm full of driven, well educated and fun people.

, Audit (Current Employee) McLean, VA

ProsGreat opportunities for growth, all based on merit. If you're willing to put in the work, they are willing to promote you and allow you to seek out more challenges. Offers annual update conferences and training to all staff in Audit, Tax, and Consulting lines of business. Many opportunities for growth the Big 4 do not have.

ConsHigh mid level management turnover. As a middle market accounting firm, McGladrey works with growing companies that love pulling excellent staffers away from public accounting. Many choose that route.

Advice to Senior ManagementFigure out how to encourage people to stay in Public accounting, a lot of good talent is lost to the private sector.

    Long-time Senior Associate

Senior Associate (Non CPA) (Current Employee) Cleveland, OH

ProsReal directors and career advisors who care if you take the time to talk with them. I've built my career here and feel that I am fortunate to work with some pretty great people. There were a few rocky years during the transition from the partner company, but now that the branding is settled, everything else seems to be falling into place, as well. Their is HUGE growth in the Ohio market, especially in technology and health care consulting.

ConsI sometimes feel as though the Chicago-office professionals are promoted before other offices, given that it is the headquarters. All employees should be promoted based upon the annual review process and performance... not location. I see several folks around me who are discouraged year-after-year because of broken promises made about potential career advancement and promotions that didn't happen. HR and advisors need to be honest or risk losing good people.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to develop the flexibility and work-life balance that you have. It attracts new talent but it's also a factor in keeping good employees!

    Best Decision

    Consulting (Current Employee) Miami, FL

Pros- Recruiting process is amazing- willing to answer any and all questions, constantly reaching out to connect in different ways
    - Orientation- top notch- you do not feel like you are sitting there getting lectured, you learn through interactions with other professionals
    - They truly care about their employees. They do everything to make sure you are happy. There are many structures set up for feedback on performance -
    - Willing to work with your time and if you need time off
    - Open communication among all levels, no matter your position in the company- easy to discuss any issues you are having
    - Definitely a more laid back company, but don't let that fool you- people here WORK and WORK HARD, but that just means they PLAY JUST AS HARD- If you put in the time and dedication you will be rewarded

Cons- You will travel, if you are needed somewhere else, but will only give you more exposure to different teams

A very educational and fulfilling work environment.

Tax Intern (Former Employee) Duluth, MN

ProsExcellent work culture and environment, very structured, and extraordinary focus on the middle market. Staff in the mid-west are very friendly and easy to work with.

ConsWork environment can get very political, spend too much time hiring people based on their personality instead of raw skills.

    The McGladrey Experience

Consulting Associate (Current Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsMcGladrey provides the breadth of experience that a young accountant should want, but still hasa lot of the influence that comes with a big four firm. They provide a great work-life balance, allowing 18 PTO days when you start, and providing flexible week schedules.

ConsSome projects you work on might end up being a bit dull, but usually you end up working on something else soon.

Great place to work - lots of support

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat support of management - excellent career oportunities. Good culture. People that are willing to work hard are recognized for their work and accomplishments.

ConsIts public accounting - so like all firms there are long hours at certain times of the year. The good people get "rewarded" with more work. However, those rewards are recognized.
