I have been working at Medco Health full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Exposure to a wide cross-section of technologies created an unparalleled opportunity for personal growth; survival with one's mental health improved one's ability to be successful in the wider world of work outside Medco.

    Cons

An extremely stressful environment to work in. Job uncertainty was deliberately telegraphed to cow workers into compliance with haphazard upper management decisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is no advice that would be heeded by upper management. As soon as David Snow walked in, the culture changed from developing long-term success of the core business of Medco, to enhancing stock prices on a quarterly basis, for the benefit of upper management, which culminated in boon for them when they finally were able to be acquired by Express Scripts.

It was great while it lasted. Obamacare put a strain on the market and flushed out the weaker companies.

    Pros

Great pay and work life balance

    Cons

Big corporate mentality. The board and leadership team made out well. The workers were expendable.

I have been working at Medco Health full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Can't think of anything. Other than its nice to still have a job. I clock in and I clock out. And I'm not expected to work overtime. So work life balance is good. My job rarely keeps me from other activities.

    Cons

Not professionally directed. More like a factory. Lacking the correct focus as it relates to the practice of pharmacy. Senior management lacks pharmacy professionals. The medical benefits are terrible. You can't afford to be sick or be on disability. Having a baby well you better save up!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Incorporate more people that are pharmacy professionals in your management structure. Show more respect for the practice of pharmacy.

I have been working at Medco Health full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I have worked there for 5 + years. The benefits and pay structure was generous when I first started working there such as bonuses, insurance and education.

    Cons

I have worked there for 5 + years. The benefits and pay structure was generous when I first started working there. Over the last 2 years, most benefits have been cut by 75% and everyone is micromanaged.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay people for what they contribute.

I worked at Medco Health as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Worked with some great people

    Cons

Upper management was out of touch (or didn't seem to care) about employees, only their own pockets. (Yeah, yeah, typical corporation.) I left before they became part of ESI. Can you say "anti-trust"?

Your employees are your best assets and your best PR. Treat 'em right!
