Former Employee – worked at Medco Health full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Old Medco: Innovative, entrepreneutial, fast-paced, high risk-reward and collaborative. Fun, encouraging and exciting. No two days ever the same. You can contribute.
Cons – New ESI: Strong willed, convicted, logical, conservative, focused only on the core, Careful and calculated. Heirarchy dictated. No margin = no mission. Robotic. Order takers.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to your employees...remain open minded. Take chances. Lead, not follow.

Current Employee – been working at Medco Health full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – The company was always growing, listening for feedback and reliable. You could really feel passionate about what you did for a living.
Cons – The merger was not a good example of integrity, one of our key values.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to your clients, they need help explaining internal jargon to their members. Not all clients are the same

Former Employee – worked at Medco Health full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Works from home they provide everything, offer different schedules to accomodate you, you get $1 raise after 90 days. Benefits are great, You get a generous amount of vacation and sick time. You get bonuses for doing your job.
Cons – you will get burned out quickly, Jan is their high season and no one is allowed to take off during that time. You feel like someone is watching what you do all the time. They are more micro-managed b/c you do work from home. The company is still starting people out at $12 since 2005. You would think that they would offer a higher pay after being in Charlotte for 7 years.

Former Employee – worked at Medco Health full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Was a great company in terms of opportunity, salary and benefits.
Cons – Wasn't always easy to get promoted based on merit. Very politically based as well as nonsense based. Incompetence was often protected while hard workers suffered.
Advice to Senior Management – Current Express management is weeding out the waste which is a good thing; just feel sorry for the truly talented hard workers who can't escape the ax.
