I have been working at Medifast full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Nice work environment, great customers, good pay

    Cons

The job is Counselor but it's 80% SALES and it can be very stressful

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest that the job is mostly about sales and look for applicants who excel in this field. Seeking college graduates from the health and wellness field does looks nice on paper, but the job is not really counseling. It's selling the program, the products and making phone calls.

    Pros

Getting to work with clients one-on-one and see the effective results on a weekly basis was very rewarding. If you enjoy counseling and using the SMART technique this is the job for you!

    Cons

The Weight Loss Consultants are too educated to be paid so little (i.e. Registered Dietitians and individual's with degrees). In addition, the company does not encourage the Weight Loss Consultants to utilize their knowledge from school and to just focus on pushing the program itself.

I worked at Medifast full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great programs and services. The program works and is the best out there in the marketplace.

    Cons

The senior management of the division and the company don't have a clue. Weight loss is not like selling copiers! Customers and employees should be valued and treated with respect. They are your biggest asset and yet you ignore valuable feedback from both groups and this will contribute to the company's demise. You have lost some very experienced, capable, driven, passionate employees because senior management thinks they have all of the answers. Just look at the declining revenue, massive employee turnover and general unrest in the field and in the corporate office. Seems like it might be time for a change in leadership!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Family members should step aside and let people who are willing to do the grunt work and have extensive experience with sales, marketing and operations in a field-based division, take on the challenge. You would be amazed at what can be accomplished when you have people in charge that others want to follow.

I worked at Medifast full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Behavior modification training during orientation is some of the best I've had in my career as a nutritionist.

    Cons

At times it feels like corporate puts business 1st and its employees secondary. Salary not competitive

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect your employees and understand that they have a home life that doesn't revolve around the centers

I have been working at Medifast full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Growing company with centers all over the east coast and Texas.
Intrinsic value associated with product: seeing people achieve success and lead a healthier lifestyle
Staff in my center consisted of very educated and amicable people
Four weeks of training in order to gain product knowledge and sales knowledge

    Cons

Lack of communication/support between corporate and centers.
A lot of turnover due to lack of communication and organization
Hire individuals that are overqualified for what the company expects and hence, undervalue their employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide the employees within your centers with more support and guidance.
Allow them to utlize the skills and traits that they have aquired through education and experience
Be more upfront about what you expect

    I worked at Medifast

    Pros

The company is growing very fast and in some areas there is growth potential.

    Cons

The middle management is conused by some of the growth and change. Positions are open and need to be filled with quality candidates, however the current structure does not allow for those who challenge the "Good Ole Boys" way of doing things.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look into the lower level workers and how happy they are. Challenge mid-level managers to improve the workforce morale. Offer incentives to employees and a better benefot package.
