Weak leadership and old school management in the lab. Very old school.

I worked at Medpace full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great salary and bonuses package when available.

    Cons

Health and dental plans are expensive when compared to other place I worked. Management is old school and based on old buddies from the past who have not really evolved in management and leadership skills. Very high school mentality. The lab is a rather toxic environment but employees are staying mainly because of the money...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need new blood with strong and great leadership and management skills.... Do not hire without thinking and then fire without thinking. Think, think, think... and think again.

    I worked at Medpace

    Pros

    - There are some people here who really know what they are doing
    - Nice shiny new offices
    - Strong therapeutic knowledge throughout the clinical staff

    Cons

    - CEO is still way too involved, and occasionally verbally abusive
    - Top level functional management has been the same for +15 years ... they aren't going to budge on new ideas
    - Uncompetitive pay

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start embracing change. Top management: LET GO. Be willing to pay for talent.

I worked at Medpace full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Has nice perks like gym, free lunch, and food trucks. Building is clean and brand new.

    Cons

Your salary will be (way) below market standards, you will not get promoted quickly or move up even if it makes sense and the department needs it. The red tape in this company is ridiculous. Bad supervisors get to stick around while undervalued employees that make a difference get fed up and leave. You won't be eligible for a raise until 1 year after you work there (for most departments) and HR purposefully schedules your yearly review one week before you're year anniversary. So you can't even get a raise for another six months when your next review is scheduled. Its sneaky things like this that show you that Medpace does not really value it's employees. At all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This company is growing quickly. While the lower levels grows upper management refuses to change. Major readjustments must be made!

I worked at Medpace full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Compensation and benefits are good. If you work at the office there is a nice workout facility and free lunch. After training you are able to work from home.

    Cons

The Manager's are not flexible, do not give honest feedback, talk negatively about employees/ position/ company, and expectations are unclear and be prepared to work long hours. Cannot bring new thoughts or ideas- they don't care to change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None of the Managers are on the same page. One will tell you one thing and another will tell you something completely different.

I have been working at Medpace

    Pros

Well regarded in the industry, willing to take on new hires with little to no experience. Excellent training program. Multiple protocols to work on.

    Cons

Large variation in management styles and expectations. Inconsistent treatment of employees from managers and different departments. Lack of confidence or job security is a common theme among many employees of the clinical operations department.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Become standardized and fair in the treatment of employees. Be respectful of employees and do not treat employees as if they are trying to scam the systems in place if they have made an honest mistake. Support and back employees in difficult situations.

    Pros

It could be one of the best CROs of the market. It has infrastructure, facilities and expertise and some talent co-workers

    Cons

Incompetent high management and the world for them is just Cincinnati - OHIO

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They need for yesterday a new high management...really they are very weak

    I worked at Medpace

    Pros

Good upcoming brand in the clinical research landscape, Solid growth over the last many years, expertise in clinical development. Good Salary and office infrastructure. Excellent local leadership in India when I joined.

    Cons

Severe lack of communication with associates outside US, no global leadership, knee jerk reaction company with ever changing policies, severe lack of vision, lack of reward for foreign workers, run like a family business by CEO and Head of Clinical Operations - Almost like an anarchy, Lot of politics and back biting, especially between MRL laboratory and CRO.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engage the foreign workers more, you need them to survive in your tough business or else shut your business outside US.
