    Pros

Friendly co-workers, nice office space. Good work/life balance. The free gym is nice.

    Cons

They market the free lunch, it's terrible. They hire a large group of people and don't provide great training. They have the philosophy of throwing everything at the wall and waiting to see what sticks. I was trained by other interns, not a trainer or my manager

    Advice to Management

Invest in your employees. Maybe consider hirring a lower quantity, but higher quality. Managers should have some contact with employees. i went multiple weeks at a time without any communication from my manager.

    Pros

A very young, ambitious staff that is fun to work with. Benefits are decent with a good work-life balance

    Cons

Limited opportunities for personal and professional growth

    Advice to Management

The upper, upper management needs to be less involved on the day to day operations and continue to look at the big picture. Also, there needs to be more recognition of some weak links in the management staff.

    Pros

    Cons

    Very little room for advancement

    Pros

Young workforce. Fast-paced environment. New facilities. Free lunches. 3-weeks vacation starting. Exercise facility onsite.

    Cons

No training offered (experience needed or developed individually). Roles not fully fleshed-out. Develop quickly or leave.

    Advice to Management

Management staff needs to rotate. Too many titles created beacause no more room in managment. Learn proper management styles.

    Pros

Lab Supervisor is very knowledgable and very supportive of the techs.Always there to help. She is very professional when dealing with the more "difficult" employees.

    Cons

Long hours somedays. Would be nice to be paid hourly instead of salaried.Lab Director is non existent. Lab is not as "important" as the CRO.

    Advice to Management

Lab Supervisor needs additional. Would be nice if upper management listened to her recommendations. She encourages independence but is always there if needed.

Empty Promises and Management Who Do Not Know How to Run a Business

Managers are doctors who micromanage and have control issues but do not know how to make smart business decisions.

    Advice to Management

Hire people who know how to manage. You are great at being research professionals and knowledgeable doctors in drug development. However you do not know how to manage or keep employees happy.

    Pros

Good flex time and PTO policies and decent benefits. All employees start with 3 weeks of vacation, which they can start using right away. Free drinks and breakroom supplies.

    Cons

Communication from senior management downward is nearly nonexistent. Employees rely on the rumor mill to find out what is going on, when bonuses are coming, etc. Many young managers with no innate leadership ability or previous experience and no training to learn how to supervise people.

    Advice to Management

Change corporate culture to be more open and less threatening to dissenters.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Medpace is a strong company in excellent financial health. Benefits and wellness promotion for employees are solid. Vacation and sick day policy are ample. The other employees are a young, fun crowd who know how to work hard and still have a good time. The work is intellectually stimulating and can teach you a lot about the other functional areas in this contract research organization (CRO).

    Cons

Peak work volume can be extreme. You may be expected to work weekends with only 1-2 days of notice. If you want the weekend days off, you may have to request them. There is training, but it does not cover the things you really need to know. New employees must feel around in the dark for too long before becoming integrated and effective.

    Advice to Management

Procedures should be kept up-to-date. Employees should be praised for doing well. The formal review system should have something less formal and more frequent added to it. Employees need more feedback.

    Pros

    Great salary and benefits package.
It is a good place to learn about phamaceutical research. It is a good place to develop lab skills.
Not having to work on holidays is great for lab workers.

    Cons

I work in the lab and the hours can be long. You have to stay until all the work is done.
The micromanagement is stressful, you are questioned about your work and why you do it the way you do.
Manager is condescending and talks "down" to employees.

    Advice to Management

Offer some management training classes so managers know how to interact with employees without micromanaging. Being a good manager is not about reminding people you are the boss.
The social events are a great way to meet people from other departments and learn about what other kinds of work are done at the company.
