    Not enough opportunities

    Business Office Specialist (Current Employee)
    Springfield, MO

ProsI enjoyed the culture of compassion that was presented, and they truly have some wonderful providers working for them. I loved the doctors I saw under their insurance.

ConsI did not feel that there was ample opportunity for pay or career advancement. I was told raises would never exceed $0.25/year, and that was if the maximum merit increase was received. Employee morale was low and there was an overall attitude of dissatisfaction.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

ProsMercy is a wonderful hospital to have a baby at! Great mother/baby care!

ConsNurses are unhappy in medical surgical units, and it reflects in the care of their patients.

    Family atmosphere

    Registered Nurse (Current Employee)
    Oklahoma City, OK

ProsThe people at Mercy are like family forever. You really rely on co-workers, and build life-time bonds

ConsNurse to Patient ratios got progressively worse and patients are so much sicker. Nurses are overworked. Turnover is higher than it should be.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on keeping nurses and real care for patients. You could have kept some really superior, amazing people if you would have really focused on treating nurses well.

ProsThe benefits were good, the time off was adequate, and the people I worked with were good

ConsThe communication from the Senior staff lacked details and sometimes just did not communicate at all

Advice to Senior ManagementShare with the truth with the employees

    Good atmosphere, terrible benefits

    Registered Nurse (Former Employee)
    Saint Louis, MO

ProsWonderful people and well maintained campus

ConsBenefits are terrible, you would think working for a hospital system would offer better coverage and not make you pay an arm and a leg for anything you need done. Especially since you are forced into using their providers. Tip: Less money on landscaping the place and more on your employees health.

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter "manage the managers" programs, there is no system of checks and balances for bad leadership.

Focus on patient care and not whether I agree with management on issues.

    Registered Nurse (Current Employee)
    Janesville, WI

ProsAtmosphere conducive to good patient care, salary and benefits are competive.

ConsSometimes feel they are so busy getting big that they loose sight of basic goals.

Advice to Senior ManagementRemember each community that Mercy is in has unique (to that community) culture and history that are alive and well. Don't promote Mercy growth by negative relationships with other local health care delivery systems.

    RN

    Registered Nurse (Current Employee)
    Rogers, AR

ProsYou are able to provide faith based care. Not having to worry about performing procedures that are more questionable...Beautiful facility.

ConsDisorganized with poor management. Very lacking in policies and procedures. Mismanagement of unlicensed and licensed workers. Poor communication and lacks education opportunities for employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementUtilize staff more effectively. Maintain a stronger support system for licensed personnel. Provide a stronger education support system, orient new staff.
