    Pros

Strong Catholic faith based healthcare organization. Turns no one away when help is needed whether its medical, mental and/or physically.

    Cons

Not very good in the compensation area, although to some extent its to be expected since the hospitals within the Mercy Health System are smaller community based facilities.

    Advice to Management

Jump in and get your hands dirty if need be. Be better than dictators and delegators; In other words be part of the solutions and not the problems. Listen and talk to your employees not at them. And for the love of all that's good, give a sincere THANK YOU, those 2 words can go a very long way.

    Pros

The values are caring and kind

    Cons

Staffing could be better than it is

  3. It was a transitionary step; there was a hiring freeze on full-time employees for the job that they hired me.

    Pros

Providing patient care and a modicum of autonomy in which to do it were given here.

    Cons

As a per diem employee getting cancelled for a shift--a mere ten minutes prior to that shift--was not uncommon.

    Advice to Management

Listen to all of your employees for feedback-not just administrators.

    Pros

The work-life balance is pretty good. Pay is decent enough.

    Cons

Benefits coming up next year are terrible. There's no accountability for some. Some of the practices don't match the core values.

    Advice to Management

Hold management accountable for actions. More incentives for part-time and prn staff.

    Pros

The floor that I was on didn't have to float , that may be different now. It was a closed unit.

    Cons

It was physically demanding. You had to work 8 hours days and every other weekend. Hard to get a decent raise in pay.

  8. Brief insight of former employer. I loved working at this hospital and having the opportunity to service the patients.

    Pros

Patient care is the most rewarding job ever.

    Cons

Management will sacrifice patient care for the almighty dollar. :(

    Advice to Management

Treat patients as you would want your loved one treated, with the best possible health care!

I have been working at Mercy Health System full-time

    Pros

Good to work with the patients & good full-time pay w/no overtime.

    Cons

Expectations of working with more patients if high patient #'s at the time, not accounting for additional time to document with high #'s; high turnover rate with therapy personnel & nursing. They do not pay for over time with full time employees.

    Advice to Management

hire more nurses & prn personnel on "stand-by" for patients. Patients buzzing for long periods before attended to during peak meal & after meal periods. Please allow time for documentation & preparation/copying information to educate patients; also expectation of meetings with doctors/nurses during "therapy times"...difficulty/chaos with scheduling with other therapists.
