    Current Employee - Local Manager

I have been working at Meredith Corporation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits with unique features, decent pay, and mostly good employees. Very family friendly and encourages a work life/family balance.

    Cons

Your experience will vary widely depending on which location you are at. Corporate management is very slow to react to real crisis. Some markets have very, very poor upper management which has a trickle down effect to all departments and personnel. Do your research on local management before accepting a position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in innovation and put real resources behind keeping up with your competition.

I have been working at Meredith Corporation

    Pros

Other employees were friendly and no one was micro managing me.

    Cons

For the last 3 years I never received a promotion. Nor any incentive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To put into managing positions people that do have skills for those positions or to train them.

    Cons

Elusive sr management that only promotes their dream team. No raises- annual layoffs a big negative - if you're over 5o- watch out.- big red dot on your back.

I have been working at Meredith Corporation

    Pros

I enjoy most of the people I work with. Parking is convenient. Benefits are decent. Overall work environment is pleasant at times, highly political at other times.

    Cons

You just never know when you'll be the next person to get a pink slip. There's no money to invest in growing our business or for giving employees raises. Yet the highest levels of management are grossly over-compensated, which isn't good for morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow the business and employees to grow through investment. Lead by example when it comes to raises.

    Pros

Meredith had a great reputation and hire best in their class.

    Cons

    Pros

Nice people, good attitudes towards employees with families.

    Cons

They don't understand the creative side of the businesses they are in very well. They are very good at the business side of things and have a very healthy bottom line, which is great, but they need to support and encourage real creativity with money, strategy and enthusiasm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not be afraid of change and new ideas. These can make money too.
