I have been working at Meredith Corporation full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Its a job in an economy where FT is hard to come by

    Cons

numerous management changes makes it difficult to identify a purpose and/or path to success; it doesn't help that local talent won't even consider as an option

I have been working at Meredith Corporation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I've worked at two Meredith magazines in Manhattan and both offered good work/life balance, reasonable hours and a low-key office environment. Best suited to those who value comfort at the office and put family before work.

    Cons

Lots of mediocrity and folks who hang on to their jobs forever. That said, you never know when the ax is going to fall. There've been three rounds of layoffs in my three years with the company. Very awkward coordinating workflow with Des Moines. Worst human resources department I've ever encountered. Not a good match for very ambitious or creative people.

I have been working at Meredith Corporation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

In my experience, the people who work here are nicer than those I met when I was at Conde Nast. Everyone is really down to earth and friendly and I love my boss.

    Cons

Because Meredith is a publicly traded company, mass layoffs are common. I'm also considered a temp, even though I work full time and was hired permanently and there's not really much I can do to change my status.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the young people starting at the company! They have a fresh point of view and an understanding of what younger readers are looking for.

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Enjoyed my work and coworkers. Pay and benefits were good. Pleasant work environment. Emphasis on employee health.

    Cons

Senior management makes poor decisions. A series of bad acquisitions have resulted in layoffs at profitable divisions. Despite that, officers seem to make more and more money while rank- and-file endure pay freezes and layoffs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't waste company funds on low- or no-profit acquisitions just because they are tech related. Value experienced employees. Share the wealth -- CEO and several other officers are grossly overpaid

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good stable work environment. Great Benefits. Good Work/Life Balance.

    Cons

Depending on what department you work in, it can be a great place to work. For creative folks out there, the work itself isn't very creative or satisfying if you're a creative professional. There are too many chiefs and not a lot of people to do the actual work. Salary is below industry average.

I worked at Meredith Corporation as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

Very technologically focused and forward thinking as a whole. Many people are friendly, and the work-life balance is superb. The benefits are great and there are many free perks from a workout facility to free coffee and sodas.

    Cons

The job security isn't great and the outlook appears to be bleak. Aside from the digital aspect, the magazine industry isn't doing well. Likewise, many people are constantly changing positions and jobs in an effort to have more security, so it becomes difficult to get comfortable in your position.

I worked at Meredith Corporation full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Challenging work, good benefits and a decent corporate culture make Meredith an excellent place to work. They are focusing on digital and marketing, more then print.

    Cons

Every year for the past 5 years they have been downsizing certain divisions in favor of purchasing new companies. Do your research and make sure your join in the right division. Avoid newsstand.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look to move existing employees into new divisions rather then just downsizing. Loyalty goes both ways.
