    The Drama continued

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsSome of the software that is being maintained and created is useful and doing well. Merge tries to treat their employees well.

ConsThere are some software packages that should be put to rest or recreated. Many fires were being put out, blame and drama continued. Trying to make your employees happy and well trained in their jobs is not as good as making sure it gets accomplished.

Advice to Senior ManagementThey need to listen to their employees, take a deep breath and get more involved. Managers should know more than their employees so that knowledge is disseminated correctly.

    Growing Pains

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsExecutive leadership is very progressive and looking to grow the company to be a dominant force in the health care image management space

ConsToo many acquisitions can be challenging to merge (no pun intended) with existing businesses. Lots of valuable balls are hitting the ground from a lack of understanding the new acquisitions from upper management

Advice to Senior ManagementSlow down the acquisitions and focus on what you have

Fast-paced, sales driven company in the high-growth healthcare IT market

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe people are what make Merge a good place to work. There has also recently been a change in senior management so the long-term outlook may be more promising. Only time will tell.

ConsVery competitive environment that is completely sales driven. Most of the work that is done on any given day is driven by what deal or customer issue is happening at that moment. There is no good, transparent roadmap for corporate strategies (or if there is it is not clearly communicated from the top down) which is why there is a high turnover rate. If you are in sales, you're a king. If not, watch out!

Advice to Senior ManagementBecome more transparent on yearly corporate strategies and reward other employees who aren't in sales. It takes an entire team of support personnel from marketing to product management to operations to R&D to make sales successful!

    Good stepping stone

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGreat place to get healthcare experience, young fun company. They grew fast through acquisitions but seem to be listening to employees now via their employee survey. Making some progress on basic training, career development etc.

ConsToo many products and too little training. Mostly have to learn on your own with sink or swim mentality. Low pay and hard work.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf pay was competitive could probably retain more employees.

    – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Work Environment

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsVery busy but collaborative environment. Management is responsive and willing to assist with resolving customer related issues when necessary. A very team oriented company. Competivie pay scale and favorable benefit package

ConsDifficult to establish and maintain a good work/life balance.

    Satisfied employee

    Software Developer (Current Employee)
    Hartland, WI

ProsI like my job, my co-workers and manager.

ConsWitnessing inter-departmental friction is frustrating, especially at this time of the companies evolution. I'd like to see some accountability in middle management and more oversight of it by upper management. Too many times I've observed what I feel is management agenda driving decisions rather than the health of the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementGain more visibility into what is happening at lower levels of operation in the company and assist in pulling department heads together to affect and enforce change.

Driven to grow the company and build a business in HealthCare.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsInteresting technology, plenty of opportunity to make improvements, growth vertical.

ConsHealthcare is traditionally a low spend vertical, hence low pay too.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't forget is takes more than just sales to grow a business

Too much drama for one job.

    Mid Management (Former Employee)
    Chicao (Philippines)

ProsThere was a ton of opportunity to work on good things as long as you were given the greenlight to do so. The team I worked with was fantastic overall--good people working on something they really cared about.

ConsAcross the board, the leadership was distracted by putting out fires in some other way, and the workload at hand was mostly defensive. Pay was not great. PTO policy was limited. A very staunchy work environment, bogged down by cultural appropriations rather than individual empowerment.

Advice to Senior ManagementLoosen up, give a chance to bring some intrapreneurialism into the innovation of the company.
