Former Employee – worked at Merrill Lynch part-time for less than a year
Pros – I would say the people. I have spoken with Merrill employees who have left Morgan Stanley and Goldman simply because the culture is so much friendlier.
Cons – People who go into finance just for prestige will find it, though not to the same degree as at Goldman or MS. Your friends will still be impressed, don't worry.

Current Employee – been working at Merrill Lynch part-time for more than a year
Pros – The people there are very friendly and helpful. There are high expectations as expected, but more than sufficient resources to help you succeed in your role.
Cons – There aren't as many options to move around the firm in the Wealth Management division. The work becomes pretty routine, and I don't get to travel much.
Advice to Senior Management – Incorporate a bit more flexibility

Former Employee – worked at Merrill Lynch as an intern for more than a year
Pros – Great exposure to senior financial advisors and management. Worked one-on-one with wealth management group financial advisors and client associates. Management offered sound advice and were wide open to formal and informal conversations throughout the office. The culture cultivated a pristine and honorable environment that I enjoyed working in throughout the two year internship.
Cons – As one of a few interns throughout the office, there were not many people my own age.
Advice to Senior Management – Have more structured branch activities involving interns to "ease" up on the conservative financial services culture that can be seen from out viewpoint.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
