Awesome

Multi-consultant, Different Products (Former Employee)
Tulsa, OK

I worked at MetLife full-time for more than 10 years

ProsMetLife has great benefits and different positions in different departments. When first coming to MetLife and also when changing departments, the training is wonderful. I worked with a lot of good people and most management is very good. My co-workers were very competitive, which makes you work harder to do the best you can.

ConsA management person (supervisor) can make it very difficult to want on their team when they are political, and chooses to work best with guys. In my 12 years years plus, I only had one that was this way. The remainder of management was idea.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop changing the supervisor, to a different department when they can't do the job, or the team doesn't like the supervisor, because of political differences.

You need to show them the door.

ConsThe con was that the company had to do layoffs and it was a shock.

Advice to Senior ManagementI don't have anything negative to say. The management was always helpful and motivating.

In my group (Reverse Mortgage) they were unsure of how to build the business model.

Reverse Mortgage Consultant (Former Employee)
Richmond, VA

I worked at MetLife full-time for less than a year

ProsStrong brand recognition and a respected corporate leader.

ConsThe Reverse Mortgage division was not part of the core business and as a result of the financial reform bill it needed to be removed from the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementNone, this was just a business that was not a good fit for MetLife.

World class aspiration on track with very impressive track record of financial results and people practices.

Vice President (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at MetLife full-time for more than 3 years

ProsA leading global financial powerhouse very focused on customer centricity and talent management. Committed leaders and a strong pipeline of talent coming through

ConsToo many work from home arrangements limits teamwork. Recently hired and continuing to hire large numbers of high performing and high potential talent from the outside which could be demotic aging for long term internal talent

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to advance world class motivational leadership journey
