I have been working at MetroPCS full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

When we were a standalone company, the culture was great. You felt like you had a voice.

    Cons

As soon as TMO took over, we are the red headed stepchild. No upward mobility in Field Marketing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create additional roles for employees to move into.

I have been working at MetroPCS part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Awesome benefits, fast paced environment and lots of problem solving. Also have customers that are appreciative. Both hourly and commission pay stinks!

    Cons

Managers can't make a schedule if their life depended on it! Short staffed, nasty customers and sell sell sell and you get zero zero zero. We have the top selling store in the region but can't get paid out properly because they have raised our goals so much that we have double the goals of stores with 3x the employees..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make a schedule that works, stop trying to sell the elderly things they don't need. Listen to your employees. They are the ones that are dealing with all the customers, you need to be there advocate!

    Pros

Easy job, teaches a lot about persuasion and makes communication skills much stronger.

    Cons

The pay is terrible and the customers are constantly complaining about the simplest things. And teaching foreigners how to download apps on their phones must be the most annoying task to deal with.

Former Employee - Assistant Store Manager (Corporate Store)

I worked at MetroPCS full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The core management team is assembled with seasoned veterans of the wireless industry who know how to shape a market and employees

    Cons

The rule of thumb is gross activation at any cost if your a problem but you produce continue to be a problem regional management will not discipline you or fire you they would rather reprimand retail managers than a trouble making rep - if you should have moral value and stand up for something they will say you are here at will and here's your final paycheck - there's no true work life balance your expected to work , yes it's retail so know what you are saying yes to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

don't go against the grain and get results they will praise you - go down in metrix and your a number that can be replaced - stay on their good side

I worked at MetroPCS part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Learned a lot about customer service and how to deal with customers when they were upset or demanding. If you work hard enough and learn the company from inside out, there is tons of room for growth.

    Cons

Supervisors were not always that responsible and could not approach them too easily. Also, pay was not great. Raises were given, but very rarely and not too much was added. In addition, the way the commission worked was awful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote the people who deserve it, not just the ones who have been there the longest. You deal with a lot of angry customers in this business, and you need people who know how to appropriately take care of them.

    Pros

Opportunity to develop your sales skills and learn more about the wireless industry. Positive management team and great co-workers.

    Cons

Changes in business process due to merger have been cumbersome. Still some uncertainity with regard to jobs at the regional level.

I have been working at MetroPCS full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Company is so new that advancement is very fast if you prove you can produce

    Cons

hours are borderline illegal, no benefits at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a stronger plan for managing employees, and the lack of attention to details is a big problem for workers in stores. Better pay will result in happier workers and more productivity, people are willing to work hard if rewarded.
