I have been working at MetroPCS part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Benefits, as a part timer I got a lot of PTO, & 3 days off a week. The pay was okay .

    Cons

I understand we have to meet a qouta but the reason people come to metro pcs is because they habe cheap plans! Not everybody is going to get the unlimited plans. Also the hours of operation sucked. We would be open from 10am-9pm and after 7pm nobody would even be in there ! Oh and the authorized dealers would always have customers come in cursing us out . They would say the corporate store will give you a new phone for free when that wasn't the case.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get off the employees back alil . It makes us all uncomfortable breathing down our necks about getting activations and high price plans. And train employees alil bit more before you just throw them in the jungle

I worked at MetroPCS full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits were great at this company for a FT employee, training when the company first started was strong by slowly dropped off as the company continued to grow.

    Cons

Majority of the customers are rude. They tend to get upset with you when they do not pay their bill and come in complain about having to wait to have their service turned back on.

Employees were treated like indentured servants. Leadership has be come sheep, if you questioned any one hire up they would eventually push you out.

The balance between work and life was non-existence, if you were a store manager you were always on call.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None, occasionally ask the people above them why they are going to make changes to a system that works in their market.
Listen to your managers who are standing at the front lines daily.

Watch out Cricket got your number!

I have been working at MetroPCS full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great enviorment if you love sales and cellphones

    Cons

Middle management does not connect will with other employees very high influence and too much trust put in their store managers. Which is great if you have a good store manager. Bad if you have a bad store manager

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Area Managers need to spend a whole working day out on the sales floor to see what really happens. This way when training is implemented its done through experience and not theory.

    Pros

When we were a standalone company, the culture was great. You felt like you had a voice.

    Cons

As soon as TMO took over, we are the red headed stepchild. No upward mobility in Field Marketing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create additional roles for employees to move into.

    Pros

Fun Place to work, everyone was nice and eager to help

    Cons

Upper Management thought they know everything and that clearly wasn't the case

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the people in the regions instead of sending people in from other markets who know nothing of the landscape

I have been working at MetroPCS part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Awesome benefits, fast paced environment and lots of problem solving. Also have customers that are appreciative. Both hourly and commission pay stinks!

    Cons

Managers can't make a schedule if their life depended on it! Short staffed, nasty customers and sell sell sell and you get zero zero zero. We have the top selling store in the region but can't get paid out properly because they have raised our goals so much that we have double the goals of stores with 3x the employees..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make a schedule that works, stop trying to sell the elderly things they don't need. Listen to your employees. They are the ones that are dealing with all the customers, you need to be there advocate!

    Pros

Easy job, teaches a lot about persuasion and makes communication skills much stronger.

    Cons

The pay is terrible and the customers are constantly complaining about the simplest things. And teaching foreigners how to download apps on their phones must be the most annoying task to deal with.

I worked at MetroPCS full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The core management team is assembled with seasoned veterans of the wireless industry who know how to shape a market and employees

    Cons

The rule of thumb is gross activation at any cost if your a problem but you produce continue to be a problem regional management will not discipline you or fire you they would rather reprimand retail managers than a trouble making rep - if you should have moral value and stand up for something they will say you are here at will and here's your final paycheck - there's no true work life balance your expected to work , yes it's retail so know what you are saying yes to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

don't go against the grain and get results they will praise you - go down in metrix and your a number that can be replaced - stay on their good side
