    Pros

Decent corporate office in Richardson. Some good people.

    Cons

Much change and uncertainty due to acquisition by T-Mobile. Lots of politics like is typical in IT and in Telcos.

    Advice to Management

Get over your insecurities and politics. Wake up and reward good ideas and good performance. (or just keep messing things up and then hop jobs as Telco execs and mgrs. often do).

    Pros

Excellent benefits package for full time employees, flexible scheduling for all employees, some interesting incentive programs, and some of the managers are very skilled and helpful.

    Cons

Top sales people get treated like they're invisible if they are not overly social, in the "cool" crowd or pals with a manager, low commission structure, and "blacklisting". In other words, you can forget ever advancing to management if you ever have a problem and you need help with it. Open door policy is a joke, and the company doesn't care about other human beings. Not designed for a single mother to progress and take care of her family.

    Advice to Management

Recognize and appreciate your hard workers and your dedicated, most motivated sales people. They are hard to find and they are a rare breed. They are the people who bring customers to your stores and sometimes entice them to stay. Give them room to grow and develop instead of crushing their spirits.

    Pros

    - Low sales expectations
    - Relaxed work environment
    - Ability to read textbooks and study during slow periods
    - Free phone service (corporate lends the device for you to use)

    Cons

    - If you're coming to Metro PCS with prior wireless experience, you'll be shocked at the compensation package (not in a good way).

    - Sales Associates are paid hourly + a small monthly "bonus" that equals up to 10% of your earned wages during that month (if you manage to hit certain sales quotas as a store). For example, if you're a part-time rep working 30 hours a week and your store hits 150-200% of your goals, you can expect to receive around $200 as a bonus. In contrast, sales associates at other wireless carriers have individual quotas and can easily make 3x this amount in a month.

    - Part-Time Sales Associates are NOT offered health insurance, paid time off, vacation/sick pay, etc. In contrast, Full-Time Sales Associates receive 100% premium paid health benefits for the employee + significant discounts on the monthly premiums for their dependents. FT reps also receive a generous amount of paid time off (typically 2+ weeks a year).

    - The difference in pay between Part-Time and Full-Time associates is utterly ridiculous. Base pay for PT is 10.50/hr and base pay for FT is around 15-16/hr...REGARDLESS OF PRIOR WIRELESS EXPERIENCE.

    - Part-Time associates are restricted in their abilities to perform even the most simple of tasks that are common responsibilities for ALL reps in other wireless outlets. This equates to part-time reps being treated little more than glorified cashiers and order takers. On the other hand, management is unable to place high expectations on part-time associates because of their limited role in the store.

    Advice to Management

    - Stop treating part-time associates like they're just warm bodies to fill a store vacancy.

    - At least have the decency to OFFER part-time associates the ability to even PAY to join your group insurance policy. Your HR representatives will STILL go over the full-time associate compensation package during the part-time rep orientation. I find this to be a bit unethical and cruel to new hires who are just starting to form an opinion of Metro PCS.

    - Part-time associates also deserve to be paid more than $10.50/hr, especially since most of these individuals are having to purchase health insurance elsewhere. You can't expect employees who are only making $1k a month with no benefits nor opportunities to advance to "full-time status" to want to stay any longer than necessary with your company. This is definitely apparent in the numerous internal e-mails that advertise the latest job openings (most are part-time).

    Pros

You get cell phone service from them for $30, but its still pretty crappy service.

    Cons

You get treated horrible, and the management is terrible and intimidate you to try and sell more.

    Advice to Management

Have a heart and learn that intimidation doesn't make people productive in the long run.

    Pros

average workload, small company benefits of no pressure job

    Cons

no trainings, no mentoring, no education help or benefits, poor upper management, poor career advancement support from upper management

    Advice to Management

employees' skills are something called "you reap what you sow". no technical trainings and no further educational or career advance help from the company hurt first the employee and the most to company. Employee who want to get better at what they do will move on eventually for better opportunity. So who is losing eventually ?!?!

    Pros

Getting paid a hourly rate and commission is always a plus. This job also offers the freedom of not having to deal with a manager constantly nagging you.

    Cons

Commission rate is terrible, not worth the effort. Hourly rate below minimum wage. The lack of staff means that you'll be working at different stores often and wont find out until last minute. Impossible to call off since your the one opening and closing the store.

    Advice to Management

Raise rates of pay and offer more realistic goals.

    Pros

    not a lot of workload

    Cons

changing schedule within 1-2 hours before hand
telling you to leave and then come back when they do no pay for your gas
working every sunday because you are the back up
all they care about is the store, not if you are ok
no commission nor bonuses (wishingstar wireless)
    no health insurance
minimum pay when you are doing manager's job

    Pros

starting pay was 8/hour which was okay for a summer job at the time.
flexible schedule ...if you let them know a month in advance

    Cons

wasn't paid fairly though. my boss wouldn't look at clocked hours just what was on schedule. i would sometimes stay an hour after closing to help customers.
i was usually the only one at the store with no breaks.
my boss would pay the full-time employees "salary pay" and he wouldn't pay them overtime when they were working 60 hours a week. could have been my boss but it was so ridiculous.

    Advice to Management

since all stores are privately owned, you should really pay attention to the owners of the stores to make sure they follow protocol. owners like the one i worked for were sneaky and left a bad taste in the mouth of many.
