I have been working at Microsoft as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

all things are well scheduled and regular meetings are hold. All things are doing step by step and finally successfully finish.

    Cons

There is no individual heroism, what works is the system, not a specific employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give the entry software more challenges to help them grow.

I have been working at Microsoft as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

Great company to have on your resume. Very supportive co-workers, lots of opportunity for growth, and always something exciting to work on.

    Cons

At times I feel out of the loop on a lot of things, which makes it difficult to do my job. A few internal services don't always work, and some subscriptions literally took a year for me to receive (employee MSDN).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep on keeping on. The company is heading in the right direction, the values are solid, just need to keep working at it and improve the little things.

I have been working at Microsoft as an intern for more than 5 years

    Pros

I don't know much about Microsoft, but know Microsoft Research Asia. As a industrial lab, we have freedom and support to do great research, both for improving products directly or long term purpose. The atmosphere is creative.

    Cons

As a industrial lab, Microsoft Research Asia has high standard facility but less students compared to university. Researchers have to be accustomed to do experiments most of the time.

Current Employee - Applied Research Intern (Blog Mining) in Cairo (Egypt)

I have been working at Microsoft as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

One of the best applied research institution in Egypt
Teams of same ages from different universities (and in my case a team mate from carnegie mellon university) builds a team with wide experience span.
    Pretty cool workspace

    Cons

Management was a hassle when I joined
Not enough guidance / teaching from mentor doctors

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more guidance / resources / facilities to interns

I have been working at Microsoft as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Intelligent and smart colleagues, relaxed and informal working atmosphere, interesting and challenging projects, huge resources, well organized, game room, good food and tea, well payed.

    Cons

Food is subsidized but not free (other companies offer three meals and unlimited snacks for free), tall cubicles, too many doors that have to be opened by a key-card, a lot of old badly designed legacy code.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Enforce better design practice, make sure that people write quality documentation, and give people free food.

Current Employee - Summer Intern Software Development Engineer In Test in Hyderābād (India)

I have been working at Microsoft as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

No particular dress code, flexible work timings, option to choose what you want to work on, enough opportunities to try every profile present here, free cold-drinks, coffee , employee satisfaction is the best!

    Cons

No cons as such, just that Microsoft as a whole should have a common logo on all its products so that people can recognize it more. no people just recognize the individual products like windows, office, bing, xbox, but not all know that its all of Microsoft! One more con... The food is so good that I think I will get FAT .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management is awesome.. starting from the mentor to the manager to the manager of manager, everyone takes care of you very well.
