    Pros

    Good Company for learning.
Some of your concerns will be considered.

Most of the people will compromise for many things like salary, promotions etc as they like and love company.

    Cons

Very Very Very Poor and worst Middle Management.

I recommend MindTree as best company when
either your role is a project manager or above, other wise you should not play politic with middle management by praising them for their donkey jobs and talks.

If you your role is less than a project manager think twice about stupid middle management and decide to join. Especially for Onsite and Chennai locations.

Most of the middle managers are idiots and they feel that they are superiors and they talk like the are the gods ruling the company.
Though senior management is good they wont focus on changing these middle managers.

Many people leave MindTree not for better salary/ better oppertunity, most of the people will compromise for many things like salary, promotions etc as they like and love company. but finally because of the middle management they will MindTree.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not only focusing on improving the company business, also please focus on middle management harrasements also so that, you reduce iteration.

You can bring more and new business when you have best LEADERS not BOSSES.

Try to understand the good peoples concerns while they are leaving and try to change the middile management or educate the middle management how to treat employees.

In single sentence tell middle management to "Be as LEADER rather than as a BOSS"

    I worked at Mindtree

    Pros

Management keeps good level fo communication with employees

    Cons

Too many people in support function - reducing overall utilization rate
Message to support team - "you are there to help the billable employees"
Nobody cares about onsite employees - keep billing as long you can
No bench period. You have to get out of the country on the last day when your billing stops
Training onsite employees - sorry cant do. learn on your own
Expense reimbursement - receipts should go all the way to india before approval. Why give your money and beg them to give it back?
Attend company meeting - yes mandatory, but cant lose billing. So work overtime to compensate time lost in company meeting
health benefits - only 2 options - either you pay a lot for nothing, or you suffer because of no coverage
salary - significant portion is variable pay, nice catch! Dont expect to get the variable component in this life
problem with your computer - oh my god, the number of approvals required to replace a faulty component for an onsite employee is ridiculous

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Isnt it a irony that you had to learn about employee's grievances in this forum? Wouldn't you have expected that the bloated HR/support structure to have found this out in their overpaid role?

    Growing company in negative direction

I worked at Mindtree full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. After struggling a lot, may be possible that you find a good project and learn
    2. If you find a good project then opportunities are there to grow yourself
Don't remember any major pros that you can't find in any other organization.

    Cons

    1. Mindtree has system for employees. Every employee is allotted to particular PRACTICE which takes care of employee skills n project but no one cares of this system. Higher management of Practice plays with employee carrier and if you fight then they have authority to decrease your ratings , not to give worth projects to you.Every company has some politics and that it OK too but here maximum non qualified higher management people got monopoly to spoil carriers.
    2. Policies can be changed anytime. And even not in right direction. In last 3 months, they changed mandatory hours to 9.5hrs/day(and most of the strength are on bench) , made notice period to 3 months , promotion criteria(its changed depending on last 3yrs ratings and as you know if someone wants to start his new life then past will not make him to give a fresh start).
    3. For every promotion, they have certain exams to clear. So, if you have fought with management or doesn't have licking skills then I am afraid you can be stuck with same designation. I got stuck for 3 yrs and i know people who are stuck for even 6 yrs. Some part of exams are related to your daily work and I am sure you will remember you college days. Just think of one thing here, company doesn't have projects to give or doesn't have skillful work to give but still they expect us to clear the paper which is nowhere related to daily task. Ridiculous!
    4. Mindtree attrition rate last year was nearly about 24% (first among all indian MNCs) and this year I can see even more because of policies and no growth.
    5. Practice heads are more concern about the COE work but not for the real time projects. Projects ask for resources from practices but practices are rarely able to provide correct resources on time. So, if you want to work and grow then look for the project by your own , make networks and struggle a lot to find the right place for you. I got this understanding very late.
    6. HIKE :- better we don't talk abt this because you work hard or not, there wont be much difference in hike percentage. Its not dependent on your work but it depends on Practice revenue. Example, Me and my friends are from different practice. He was on bench fo 8 months from 12 months cycle and I was in project working hard/alone. keeping clients happy in all means but at the end of year I got 5% hike and my friend got 12% hike. Reason is "his practice revenue was more then my practice". Isn't it ridiculous?

There are lot more to say on this but I think you got my point!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nothing to give advice because you know the truth and never change it but if you really want a advice in terms of real growth then you need to have some bigger change or revolution. Think about it very carefully!

    Pros

Excellent training for freshers joining directly from campus.
Supportive environment for freshers during training.
Some client projects use latest technologies.
Good learning if you end up in nice project.

    Cons

Managers show their real faces when it comes to appraisal.
    Too much politics in appraisal.
    Disgusting increments.
Worst promotion policies(one needs to clear exams to get promoted).
    No transparency in appraisals.
3 month notice period + no buy-out option.
    No sick leaves.
No one listens to requests if you are just S/w Engg or Sr. S/w Engg.
Pathetic attendance policy 7 hrs min + 9 hrs avg per week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are losing talent because of your pathetic policies, disgusting increments and unjustified appraisals. With attrition rate at a record high, its high time you introspect. Judge talent based on their work and not politics, Its hurting you. An average performer as per your rating(ex. myself) won't get job offer of 100% hike. Your appraisal system is screwed up. People holding positions to appraisal are fools and incapable of such task.

    Pros

Good to kickstart your career as a fresher
    Greener environment
Training provided for freshers is great

    Cons

Bad-Worse-Worst policies. They keep updating them as and when required and specially which is for their benefit.

Too many cuts in the salary which results in poor take home salary. They take an yearly review and each time they make promises to increase the take home and I'm still waiting for it.

Management of resources is highly commendable.

Too many politics and too many scandals go unnoticed.

Managers are biased towards their own regional kind.

No opportunity or scope to look forward to.

No role model to look up to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think you guys should pause and take a good look at the managers in the projects. A true ideal internal audits will reveal such huge scandals that otherwise will sink your company. Get a Devil's Advocate!
