I have been working at Mitchell International full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Work life balance. Good campus.
Good Salary/Benefits. Company has been seriously doing exercises to build a brand.
HR has been taking initiatives to make the place more employee friendly.
    Company has been going agile.

    Cons

This might be dependent completely on the team you work for.

Lot of politics. Management lacks vision. Lot of effort gets wasted on stuff which are completely useless due to the lack of vision and politics. Criticism of the management team is not welcome. The turnover in my team has been pretty high - but no steps has been done to identify the reason and fix it. Teams tend to play the blame game on any issue rather than stepping up and solving it. Lot of layoffs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Identify inefficient middle management and get rid of it. Identify people who really gets the work done and reward them. Welcome 360 degree feedback.

I have been working at Mitchell International full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Nice Campus/Building
    Flexible Schedule
    Corporate Structure Improving
Management and C-level communication with employees
    Pay Is Competitive
    People are friendly

    Cons

Management lacks vision and too much shifting direction
Constant moving people around from team to team
Product release management is terrible, with chaotic deployment cycles
Very buggy systems. Constantly fire fighting issues.
Way too much outsourcing to India. It has caused major issues with code quality
    Too much process
Some people there too long. Need new blood.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remove some of the process... its way too much. Stop shifting direction so much. Stop moving developers from team to team.

I have been working at Mitchell International full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good people to work with and fair compensation.

    Cons

Long hours, lack of support, poor resources and infrastructure. No real development or training, you have to figure out a lot of things on your own because the company runs so thin you cannot get enough time from your leaders for the support you need. You often have to wear 3 or 4 hats and perform multiple duties that should be done by multiple people. This causes dissatisfaction with the quality of ones work since priorities are often re-balanced on a daily basis, dropping something you currently are working on to start something else. Really, the flavor of the week when it comes to priorities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more support to the teams that require it. Running so thinly on resource-generating departments is bad practice and provides poor customer experience that can turn away current business and present poor first impressions to new clients.

    Pros

A lot of fabulous people to connect with. Where business and technology meets. A company with a lot of data that can be used for great things!

    Cons

New work methodology that they are trying to put in which take a lot of meetings and times. Lots of applications are outdated and need to be refactored, documented etc.

    Pros

.Employees good work environment. Better in the past

    Cons

Top heavy with Mid and Upper Level Mgt. Old-boys style-promotion

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake up and get it together. Think of your staff rather covering your own butts and the BOTTOM DOLLAR.
Your killing the employee spirit to do a good job with the 24/7 work expectations.
Your Mgt style is destroying Mitchell as a preferred place to work.
Also. ENOUGH with the endless Employee surveys with NO FOLLOWUP actions.

I worked at Mitchell International full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

People you work with day in and day out are awesome. They make it worth getting up in the morning and doing your best.

    Cons

Regular restructuring cycles have working people nervous about losing their job. Quote from one of the more respected senior engineers "once you reach certain pay grade you are fair game and most likely to be replaced by a junior and less costly employee regardless of performance" - that same individual was expected to work a regular day, be in a night deployment from 10 pm to 2 am and return to work next day in the morning - sometimes repeating the same routine 3 times on the same week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more quality engineers and give the scrum teams some breathing room

I have been working at Mitchell International full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good place to learn about corporate culture and understand basics of software and its uses in the insurance industry.

    Cons

Interdepartmental in fighting cause a bottle neck in product development and deployments. Management (Director and above) is achieved not by skill & hard work but by who you know. Every 18-24 months they implement a round of lay-offs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are top heavy at the Director/VP level.

    Pros

Great salary, really nice people, opportunity for advancement, friendly atmosphere.

    Cons

IT dept is an old boys club, they're cheap on infrastructure and tools, they are behind the curve on technology, and poor benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring in new talent, and significantly increase incentives and benefits to keep talent there.

    Pros

Great place to start an learn industry standards and norms etc.
People are usually very nice and professional

    Cons

Very little room for growth, since management doesn't care about employees, you may find yourself in an unfavorable environment among colleagues... Also there is mo such thing as a good raise.
I worked here for 6 years and was soooooo the best move ever
