    Pros

Really enjoyed my particular job. Had much freedom to learn, grow, gain experience and utilize my talents in my area of employment. Above average pay.

    Cons

Employees are just objects to be used and discarded at the whim of the company. Not a very family-friendly place.

    Advice to Management

Stop placing profit above people. If you take care of people (invest in your employees, care about what is important to them and support those things), the people will take care of your bottom line. Don't discharge employees with no regard to their years of service, work record/ethic, an/or character. Unusual circumstances call for discretion and discernment regarding the enforcement of "rules". Lastly, listen to the people actually doing the work; they can help things run so much more efficiently.

    Pros

I like the hours that I work. My hours are 2:00am until 10:00am in the morning. I'm off every weekend, so thats a plus.

    Cons

The people I work with are not nice at all. When you give a hundred percent you should at least be notice for the team effort you put in.

    Advice to Management

Treat people like adults not little kids.

Typical big company, both good and bad, and always red tape to cut through.

    Pros

The company is corporately invested in being the best it can be. The products and technology offered are truly cutting edge relative to the rest of the industry. Mohawk prides itself on bringing value and more profitability to the flooring industry, which despite massive objection from competition, does a great job. Also there are many outlets within the company: hard surface, soft surface, commercial, multi-family.

    Cons

Very much a top-down management style throughout the company. The words constructive criticism have probably never been uttered in Dalton, GA (corporate headquarters). The companies' number one goal is protecting shareholder interest and that is made very clear. As an employee you will be made to feel like a number, and speaking of numbers, if your sales numbers aren't up from the previous year, expect to be looking for another job. Also, as with a lot of big companies, lots of red tape to get through, and that has become customer's perception of Mohawk: "hard to do business with".

    Advice to Management

Empower employees and lower level management to make decisions to at least give the perception of Mohawk as a flexible company. Quit making one size fits all templates in Ga and applying it to the rest of the country. Markets are different and so are customers. Technology is great, but having a practical use for it is the of the utmost importance; hire a few young up and comers in corporate and allow them to lead the charge. Along those lines, start looking for a more modern company culture: work hard/play hard, value and reward creative thinking on all levels, and get away from the good ole boy mentality.

    Pros

Ecellent salary, benefits, and teamwork. Everyone at the same level works together, because everybody is helping everybody to gain business. There is lots of infrastructure to support, however, based in GA it is very spread out.

    Cons

Corporate Structure seems to continue to change, not always for the better.
Go into any flooring store and ask small business perspective on the company, what you hear is mostly true...
Due to distance between main infrastructure and other parts of company, things like weather have a massive impact.
Serious Ebbs and flows during seasonal changes

    Advice to Management

    Restructuring will have people leaving

    Pros

Good exposure to senior management. Very open to new ideas. Lots of opportunities to move around.

    Cons

Hard to get projects into place (particularly when dealing with certain departments). Too cheap in some areas. Won't spend money where needed at times. Laid off too may people from some key departments and now it is difficult to get certain projects done.

    Advice to Management

Work on communication... stop laying off so many people... and establish a standard for respect.

  10. At my plant it's not what you now is who! So sad.
