    Could be a better place

Senior Systems Analyst (Current Employee) Long Beach, CA

ProsThey have a great potential to grow under Obama care.

ConsCorruption at all levels especially in IT department. The top management all know each other and were transplants from another organization. They take bribes from vendors who take them to extravagant events in return for favors. Shame for a company that provides Medicaid for under privileged folks who live under the poverty line and is funded by the State.

Advice to Senior ManagementAdvice to the owners - this is your company, take charge and clean it up.

The most stressful job I have ever had

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Columbus, OH

ProsWorking with a lot of good people who deserve better than this.

ConsThe most incompetent management I have ever worked for. They are rude, phoney backstabbers who would sell their own mother or even eat their young just to get ahead. They treat their underlings like dirt on their shoes. They make job rules and guidelines up as they go along with the half-hearted intent to make things "easier" for us .But,never having done our job, they dont understand what will work and what wont, make the job harder and refuse to listen to suggestions or constructive criticism.Speak up or question anything and you are walked to the door.I have worked in management many years and am in absolute awe of the incompetence I see every day.Its a shame, really,as this is not what our company founder,Dr. Molina, would have ever wanted as we are soo off track from his mission to serve the underserved population.

Advice to Senior ManagementLeave..and let the company hire people who have a clue what they are doing and who actually CARE about what they are doing and not just a paycheck or how being a supervisor or manager at Molina might look on a resume.

    Over worked and underpaid

    Manager (Current Employee) Troy, MI

ProsNational company with a good client base.

ConsSome of the health plans, not all have management staff who are not people oriented and judge individuals on how well they like you and not by the quality of your work.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

    Idaho Site is no good

    (Current Employee) Boise, ID

ProsIT folks have flexible schedules. Most employees have the same gripes even though they don't unify against the oppressors.

ConsLocal management is horrible- the ones running the show have little to no formal management education. The morale is horrid, local management tries to skim the pot as much as possible. Several HR violations here and nothing gets done.
Management has employees scared to do anything but work- hitleristic dress code and management styles here.
Lots of buddy system promotions and job offerings. If you don't suck up to the big dogs you won't last long here.
Building is a joke and needs to be overhauled severely.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of the managers in Idaho and start over, or at the very least send all of these clowns to training so that this site isn't a laughing stock of other MMS sites.

Do not recommend HCS department at Doral, FL

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsBenefits are excellent, VTO opportunity, great location, good work environment except in HCS department, great growing coming up, summer batch is great, Christmas party is awesome, tuition reimbursement up to $2500 for employees and family is good, life insurance without cost is included in the benefits

ConsHCS department at Miami, FL is collapsing, 20 employees decided to left or demote including 2 HCS managers, the rest of the employees are looking to go. Employees in that department cannot even wear perfume, management with lack of professional skills, micromanaging everybody, overwhelming old employees with work because the new ones are so lack of knowledge about the work and the training is horrible. Professional growing equal zero, supervisors that don't have idea about the clinical operation of the department. HCS department is being bullied and nobody pay attention to that

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease, pay attention to the employees complaints, HCS department is under oppressive and unprofessional management, old and knowledgeable employees deserve to advance to better positions, new employees need to be carefully selected and correctly trained

Company through the eyes of the RECRUITER

Recruiter (Current Employee) Long Beach, CA

ProsNice people but that doesn't get the work done. Company philosophy is nice but untrue.

ConsPromotions based on NATIONALITY/FRIEND OF MOLINA FAMILY not experience. CLUELESS about industry, competitors, how to get from A to Z.

Advice to Senior ManagementTHE BONUS AND MERITS NEVER EQUALS WHAT HAS BEEN PROMISED except for the Molina Family & Friends.

Use this company as a stepping stone to move on to bigger and better things like Aetna, United Health, Anthem.

Micro Management and Nepotism is Alive and Well

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Columbus, OH

    ProsGreat Benefits and Decent Pay

ConsIncompetent management- many of them are under qualified and rule with intimidation and micro management. If you are a mediocre employee with no college and can kiss up to current management this is your paradise.
Upper Management encourages managers to be friends with their subordinates which allows for favoritism. Molina Healthcare proudly proclaims that they encourage friendships between managers and their direct reports.
HR- You tell them about a problem and they go behind your back to your manager and tattle tale on you. Evidently they have never heard about confidentiality.
No work life balance especially if you are "salaried" they expect you to work constantly 50-60 hours a week and give up your weekends too in order to meet their unrealistic ideals.
Upper Management- Some of these people are the bottom of the barrel quality but they wear the right clothes and drive the right car so they get the job.
I was told that this company was all about family......dysfunctional family!
Upper Management doesn't even try to keep good employees when asked Upper Management will deny this every time.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt’s not professional to encourage friendships between managers and their direct reports.
Nix the unrealistic expectations and micromanagement on your employees. Any self-respecting adult should not need a baby sitter.
Promote people who are hard workers and have experience and an education instead of some admin assistant that went out to happy hour with their manager/director and suddenly climbed the ladder. There are many well educated and experienced employees on staff but instead these people are "worked to death" and eventually leave to take a pay cut or no job at all.
HR- Keep things confidential and quit back stabbing employees who confide in you.

Lack of leadership and expansion of services without direction made it difficult to be successful.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsLot's of training programs online that are free that will add to your skill set.

ConsDue to the large size of the organization it is difficult to accomplish your goals & deadlines as it can take awhile to get your questions answered or support from your supervisor.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere needs to be more mid to lead level positions so managers aren't "hung out to dry" waiting for direction on important projects from their suoervisor

Don't be seduced by the Salary..Stay away if you don't want to kill your career

Senior Programmer Analyst (Current Employee) Long Beach, CA

    ProsGood salary package...Work life balance

ConsDumb Management that promotes people unfairly. Nothing is transparent. Management is fixated on some score card metrics rather than to really push the costs down. This place is swamped with Consultants....You really don't want to ruin your career here. There is no open door policy and if you complain you are in line of fire. Every manager and director is obsessed with expanding their kingdom rather than working for the good of the company....its all top down,...No bottom up initiatives

Advice to Senior ManagementBe transparent & fair. managers incentive systems should be tied to lowering the costs , doing more with less.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
