    Pros

Only big name, not much to say about the company

    Cons

Lack of respect, unable to communicate, HR is worthless, employees chatting and wasting time, management is nothing but useless

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please listen and understand what employees need and ask yourself who is worth and who is not

I worked at Molina Healthcare full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Molina salaries are competitive in the New Mexico market.

    Cons

Molina does a good job with talent acquisition but then they micro-manage and mismanage their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Molina needs to provide more direct oversight of the senior management that they put in place in each of their sites/plans. Senior management in any state can ruin the reputation that Molina has built as a Fortune 500 Company.

    Pros

If you are fresh out of college this is the place for you. Spend 1-3years here and leave quickly. Run like the wind

    Cons

Management is chosen by friends and relatives. Nepotism is pivotal here. This is the place of the hypocrites. Management will hire friends to do nothing but collect a paycheck and harass and bully subordinates. Management is less qualified than subordinates. Many subordinates are well educated. There is zero room for upward mobility here. Some departments are good and want to break silohs. Most don't like change and management does not like to accountability for projects and will throw other departments under the bus, as well as subordinates. Bullying is common here, as well eve to your last day on the job. If you people in management that can barely speak a word of English. English is the officially language spoken amongst colleagues here. So how are these folks hired. Benefits are not great. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get degrees and then maybe we'll take you seriously. Stop hiring your family and friend, and then maybe we'll take you seriously.

    Pros

Genuine possibility to help people, especially people who have never had preventative healthcare before. Decent benefits and salary.

    Cons

HR claims to support staff but seem to overlook major infractions by leadership in regards to HIPAA violations, bullying and discrimination in the workplace. Protection for whistleblowers is non-existent and staff is reminded often how expendable they are. Absolutely no oversight of low level management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

How do you expect to create loyal, hardworking employees if their complaints are overlooked and abusive behavior by management is tolerated? Create an HR Dept that actually takes complaints seriously instead of trying to discredit the person making the complaint.

    Pros

Able to hire family and friends. Nice facility in downtown Long Beach and promote wellness programs (i.e., free gym, group exercise, rent a bike, etc.)

    Cons

Too many incompetent friends and family of the Molina's are hired. If you're one of them, you are safe, if not one of them, beware! You need to be an unquestioning follower in order to survive. Independent thinking is not looked upon favorably Many times, it's a "do as I say, not as I do" environment. Those who make the rules don't have to follow them, but everybody else does. Although it's a fortune 300 company, it's run very much as a "Mom & Pop" shop. The Molina's reach down into the organization to get involved in things that are way beneath what they should be concerned about, only for the reason to protect their friends. The board of directors probably don't know what's really going on.

Human Resources department is a joke, several decent HR professionals including VP's were summarily dismissed and replaced with "yes men". Why you ask? They dared to do their job, and say "no, we can't do this to people". In return, they were let go....sad....

The IT Department was told to stop innovating and just keep the lights on. Big IT shop and a lot of outside consultants for the size of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Empower your people and trust who you have hired, since they are the experts at what they do. Bring in talented leadership at the very top of the company to stir and guide it in the right direction, or else I'm afraid that Molina Healthcare as a stand alone company will ceased to exist, which might be a good thing for its employees and members.

    Pros

I've met some really nice people and made a couple of life long friends, but that's it.

    Cons

If you are an independent thinker with an opinion and a brain, this place ISN'T for you. If you are a "yes" person and all you care about is coming to work and hiding, this place is for you. You either follow along with the brain washing that they try to instill in you, under the guise of the "Molina culture", or else you are in trouble. It's the Molina way or the highway. If you are a friend of Mario or John Molina, you are protected. If you're not, beware. They have hired so many of their friends, and if you cross one of those people, you are done for.

Best advice, look elsewhere. I am.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Either sell the company and do your employees and members a favors, or bring in knowledgeable people to run the company. Take a look at your competitors. None of them have an M.D. as their CEO. They are all run by business people. Also, John Molina, the CFO, has a J.D. and not an MBA. Really, a lawyer is the CFO, who hasn't practiced law a day in his life. According to many people, as the founder C. David Molina was nearing the end of his life, he begged them to not let John run the company. He must be turning in his grave.

    Pros

If you live nearby; this is a pro. If you happen to be one of the lucky ones working a remote position: this is a pro. If you are related to someone in management; you will be blessed beyond believe because you will not be required to have any practical experience or education in order to work here.

    Cons

Lack of competent management, operates as if it's still a small company and uses this excuse as a reason to function poorly, nepotism to the degree that I have never seen before, people are not qualified for the positions in which they hold, lack of structure, higher performers get less compensation than their under-performing colleagues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake up. Hire people that have experience in their profession and can affect change and get the company running smoothly. Too much hiring over the past few years. Take the time to evaluate if employees are giving you an honest day's work before you hire more. You preach good values, but you don't follow them.

    Pros

Mission to serve the low income population.

    Cons

Promotions are not based on performance. Managers will keep employees who can never get their work done, constantly show up late to work, and submit assignments with poor quality and errors for political reasons. Directors will convert consultants/temps to full time employees regardless of how they perform.

If you work at the Press Telegram or Meeker Baker building in Long Beach, you will have to park across the street in a public parking lot where people break into your cars and urinate inside the lot. A couple of instances have occurred where employees have been assaulted or have had their bikes stolen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care a little bit more about the safety of your employees. I'd like to be able to walk to my car after a long day of work without having to worry about someone stealing my laptop or seeing that my car has been broken into.

I worked at Molina Healthcare full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Medical benefits, 401 k, great people to work with for the most part. Vacation time is decent. Good corporate values but only on paper because they are not followed.

    Cons

Employees are treated like children. Management change the rules as they please, sometimes daily and are not held accountable for their actions. Raises are a joke. Its hard to move within the company, it's about who you know. Senior management only cares about the bottom line and not about their members. Overall morale is low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Minimize the favoritism and hire good line managers that will make a difference.
