Excellent people to work with. It went down the tube after the financial fiasco.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsI loved the people I worked with including my boss. We all helped each other. It was very multilingual and multicultural and loved the atmosphere. Great benefits.

ConsPay raise was almost close to nothing every year. Upper management didn't really care about us little people. All they cared about their bottom line.

Advice to Senior ManagementNothing. They are outsourcing everything.

Worked for MoneyGram 15 years...currently for online product

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsRapidly growing company, helps many people. I have awesome coworkers and a great relationship with my department leadership. Talk to a wide range of customers every day.

ConsNot much opportunity for advancement. The company seems to be moving away from an emphasis on customer service toward company-wide cost cutting. It is a shame so many people must lose their jobs in the next year.

Advice to Senior ManagementMoving jobs outside US can't be the only way to cut costs. I predict fraud and chargeback rate will skyrocket. Keep MGO operations in US.

    It's 'okay'...I guess

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Dallas, TX

ProsMostly good people, good pay, decent benefits, good PTO offering. Committed to compliance and consumer education regarding scams.

ConsLimited number of company Holidays (6), always reactive versus proactive when responding to the competitive landscape, little to no visibility into upper management, lots of politics throughout the company, lack of communication throughout company. Company culture doesn't seem to have been fully defined - it seems to differ by department.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork to better establish the company culture. Offer more training to develop leaders/managers in the company.

    Just okay

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsOffice Culture is unique, Some perks are worth, retirement benefit is not a choice you have to or they sign you up, Cubicle placement is good, Teamwork is great on some teams

ConsCommunication is lacking at times. There seems to be a disconnect for those that have the information. No cross training, Not may changes for promotion. Some training is a must. Putting irresponsible employees in charge of getting information to everyone.

Workflow Director (Former Employee) Englewood, CO

ProsMost of my co-workers were great team players and really good people. The Benefits were good and the environment was laid back but productive.

ConsCorporate didn't understand the teams that were not located at headquarters.

My experience (8 years) with MoneyGram has provided me with great international business skills

    Finance (Current Employee) Minneapolis, MN

ProsGetting visability to a true Global Corporation and how it functions across many countries, cultures, and languages.

ConsVery siloed enviornment. Cross department interactions is limited and at times, resented.

Advice to Senior ManagementCutting costs, doesn't make a stronger company.

Had great opportunities to gain experience and business knowledge

Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) Lakewood, CO

ProsWorked with a great team, great friendly enviornment. Had some employee appreciation events.

ConsThe people running the company were not transparent in their changes. There was an enormous amount of change in a short period of time, employee moral was low due to rumors and uncertainty in job safety. Outsourcing.

Advice to Senior ManagementValue employees, especially those who aren't in the upper levels. They are the front line of the company and make the money that pays our salary. Keep them informed of changes, their lives outside of work should matter. Many of these people have dedicated 10+ years to the company and their input on policy, procedures and changes were never considered. Maintain jobs in the U.S, company quality is going to signigicantly decline now that customer service is completely outsourced.

Major Account Representative (Current Employee) Lakewood, CO

ProsMoneyGram operations is one of the global leading money transfer companies.
There is a great work environment with nice multicultural high educated people.
Even though MoneyGram a "mature" company as far as time since it was created and technology investments, it behaves like a start up making many structural changes that sometimes feels like they have lack of strategy that at the end cost money that could be invested in technology.

ConsMoneyGram is shows sign of the struggles from 2008 economic impact.
This company has not kept up with technology investments to keep being a strong competitor in the money transfer business or in paper products business.

I disagree with MoneyGram current approach on cutting cost. It is going to hurt the company in the long run.
