I worked at Monster Worldwide full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Relaxed environment, tries to provide a casual, constructive atmosphere. There are some really good folks that try to do the right thing.

    Cons

The company retains a vast majority of original long term contributors. While experience is quite useful for the newcomers. This presents a challenge to those trying to take things to the next level. Adoption to change is difficult for folks that were and are responsible for the start of Monster

    Pros

People worked well together across departments. Everyone is always willing to lend a hand to help another. Very smart and hardworking group. Loved my manager which is rare to find. - Supportive and knowledgeable without micro-managing.

    Cons

Exec team was directionless and spinning in a fast growing and changing industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of most exec team and bring in some new forward thinking visionaries.

Great Pay, great stress if you're in sales

I have been working at Monster Worldwide

    Pros

Industry leading pay. Work from home. Brand recognition. Perks - Laptop, iPhone, company credit card, mobile hot spot, free swag, generous milage reimbursement

    Cons

If you're in sales, quota can be very difficult to make, most don't make it. Large product offering however hard to sell anything other than Search/Post. 90% of companies have used Monster at some point making it a hard sell. Constantly berated on your pipeline. Prospective customers are often false leads. Don't get quarterly quota until half way into quarter. Slim chance of becoming a manager if you start in sales. Would take many many years. Mainly hire external. Not growing, all hires are backfills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management is actually very good

    Pros

Great training provided by leadership to make sure that we were successful in managing and selling. Good work environment and enjoyed most of the people.

    Cons

Fairly political organization with an aging product mix that was limited and not very progressive in keeping with the new technology or offerings.

    Pros

Good salary to start off with and good sales reps working around you. Most of your peers will help if you ask them to.

    Cons

The management is not personable and doesn't really care about their employees and actually helping them to succeed. They are strictly focused on hitting some unrealistic sales goals and hesitant to actually get on the phone and help the sales staff achieve those goals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on how you can help employees succeed instead of finding someone to blame for not achieving their sales goals.

    Pros

Ideal location (Cambridge), recognizable and well-respected brand name to build your professional experience. Working at Monster opens doors and offers you an opportunity to learn from a solid methodology. Opportunity to work on projects with global considerations for more large-scale problem solving. I had an excellent manager who invested in the team's professional development, but I cannot comment on whether this is a uniform experience throughout the company. Good pay. Meaningful work i.e. helps people find jobs.

    Cons

Aloof culture overall. Product management's vision seems unfocused without a fresh and insightful view on how to reach their desired target audience.

    Good benefits
    Flexible schedule
    Good work env.

    Cons

Too many chiefs not enough indians. The CEO is completely clueless and made my boss do his pet projects which was in appropriate.
Poor direction and then when it didnt work they had massive layoffs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sal needs to leave monster before he does anymore damage and the company goes under. Ive never seen incomptence on such a scale and someone who has made so many mistakes keeep their job. I would never work there again until he goes back to NY
