    Pros

I really enjoy working here. The class sizes are reasonable and the professors really care

    Cons

A wide range of educational levels and abilities can make it somewhat frustrating for advanced students. But, its good to learn how to meet others on their level.

  3.

One of the best community colleges

    Pros

The College is growing and expanding rapidly, there is a good rapport with the community, management is fairly progressive and proactive, and there is a good benefits package.

    Cons

Student-focused environment seems to promote an atmosphere of student privilege, and students try to take advantage of their perceived position of privilege and treat the faculty like servants.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Of course we are all student-focused at MC; that is why we work at the community college. Downplay the student-centric theme and elevate respect for faculty as a core value.

Great flexibility and benefits but low employee morale

    Pros

The College provides great flexibility and benefits like tuition waiver, EAP funds for graduate studies, and a great wellness program. The leave benefits are also generous.

    Cons

Communication flow can be improved. The College is going through a lot of changes, but the information is not disseminated to the right department and/or people at the right time. Training in the departments is also lacking. There was no formal training in my department when I started. It was sink or swim and hope you don't make a terrible mistake. There must be a cultural shift going on because since I started, a lot of employees started retiring or leaving the College.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Boost employee morale

    Pros

Independence, ESH is good compared to other area community colleges. Students. Many professional development opportunities.

    Cons

Organizational climate is poor for part-time faculty. I do not feel truly included.

    Pros

You get to meet new people. There's a friendly atmosphere, an overall reasonable work load, and flexible hours. My salary as a student assistant was also pretty good.

    Cons

The rush of new students in the fall can be a little hectic. Also, there will be times where you'll need to prioritize between departmental/office duties and professors' specific requests.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have no advice for current management.

    Pros

good benefits and salary. workload is also not too much and soemwhat flexible. people are very friendly and we get a very muticultural environment.

    Cons

there is sometimes too much bureoucracy and it a takes a lot of time to arrive at very small decisions/

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

leadership is good but we would like the management to be more open and transparent. They should use more business-like approach in taking decisions and not simply follow the rules as given in the book.

    Pros

It's fairly collegial. (it is a college, after all.) Unless you murder someone, they won't fire you.

    Cons

Lots of inflated egos; too much micromanagement; much tolerance for mediocrity; decision by committee. (this is a college, after all.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust that your underlings know what they are doing and let them do their jobs without micromanaging.
