I have been working at Moody's full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Managers are generally respectful of work-life balance; co-workers are amazing - friendly and intelligent; Community Service is encouraged

    Cons

Tech is out of date; disorganized policies and procedures; no to little opportunities for advancement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate employee's work with better opportunities for advancement (titles and salary boosts are important for morale); update tech on a more timely basis (too many work-arounds that lead to inefficiency)

I worked at Moody's full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good benefits once you become eligible.

    Cons

Collegial atmosphere. Segmented, Staff tended to be a bit 'unfriendly'.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be helpful to be more inclusive. Staff should be encouraged to 'mingle' more often.

I have been working at Moody's full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    1) Good corporate culture
    2) Very LGBT-friendly
    3) Strives to provide employees a good work-life balance
    4) Very collegial environment
    5) Extremely diverse, if somewhat nerdy, staff

    Cons

    1) Individual managers can be terrible, unresponsive, tend to manage up exclusively, with a considerable amount of contempt towards reports.
    2) IT department is the worst I've ever seen.
    3) Pay is significantly below market rate (a perennial complaint by employees); raises are at best a joke, if not a downright insult.
    4) Management tends to reinvent the wheel with every new project.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1) Find someone who knows what he or she is doing to head IT.
    2) Start giving everyone decent raises, or else the company is going to suffer a massive brain drain when the market turns.
    3) Hire a consulting firm, so you don't have to reinvent the wheel all the time.

    I worked at Moody's

    Pros

Relatively good work/life balance, not a highly pressurized environment = somewhat thoughtful colleagues, good office space at a central location

    Cons

It's "too" lax in the push to get things done, minimal voluntary turnover so quite a large old guard which is unwilling, often, to adopt new approaches/technologies

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage growth and not just by training managers but by giving employees practical "transition plans" to new roles / challenges; be proactive outside of just sales growth via Moody's Analytics but by refashioning the role of ratings in the industry - be a thought leader
