    Pros

On the job training, and great people.

    Cons

Little mobility, poor salary, no raises or bonuses, easily outsourced. Reviews seem to be protocol but not used in the right manner. Back office is very different from front office - almost a different company .

I have been working at Morgan Stanley full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you really love the job, you can be successful. People who are passionate about it get far, so if you care about finance and the broader theme, you won't mind some of the rough tasks to get you there. Its a place where young people can succeed...and of course, good pay

    Cons

If you don't think finance is for you long term, you will hate the stuff you do day to day. Analyst are forced to do mundane tasks, often dealing with back office stuff. Only if you truly feel passionate about the job do you put all this aside for the bigger picture. No free food or coffee, not great benefits, pretty sub-prime office

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Morgan Stanley full-time

    Pros

High caliber employees with strong intellects, work ethics, and standards. Global reach and depth of firm is great advantage.
Human resources does a good job of partnering with companies and organizations for community benefits.

    Cons

Morale changed after Mack stepped down and Gorman took over. Institutional side does not like the new emphasis on wealth management.
Like any bulge bracket, the company has an up and out culture that grinds many people down. Employees are continually being asked to do more for less in the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be a better compensation strategy to attract and maintain talent. No one wants Morgan Stanley stock as party of their package.

I worked at Morgan Stanley full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Solid company with a long history of excellence. A great place for someone to begin their career in one of the world's top financial services. Tremendous technical platform relative to other financial service companies.

    Cons

M is one of the strongest financial services companies to exit the recent financial crisis. The company is adapting to changing market and regulatory conditions, challenging the traditional business model. The opportunities for growth and new product and technical innovation is very limited.

I have been working at Morgan Stanley full-time

    Pros

Strong firm with good outlook, good compensation (at least for those 'in the club'), great talent.

    Cons

Poor culture, particularly at the top; too many politics, favoritism, in-fighting; unethical behavior.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cost cutting focus has had a positive impact on the bottom line but at the expense of employee morale. In an environment where pay is stagnant or shrinking, when softer benefits are also stripped, the strong talent will leave and the lifers become progressively demoralized & non-productive.
