    I worked at Morgan Stanley

    Pros

High energy, fast paced and challenging environment. Strong people and system infrastructure, great benefits and vacation time. Highly supportive of internal mobility. Never a boring moment.

    Cons

Pays disparately across Institutional and Wealth businesses. All about cost cutting, mostly through job deployments to other countries. Hit or miss on the senior management team, especially at MD level..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Very good talent management program, but needs improvement in separation benefits/ job assistance to all levels who are impacted by job deployment/ elimination.

I worked at Morgan Stanley full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Morgan pays well, with great benefits and telecommuting options. They encourage community service and outreach. There are opportunities for travel and work overseas.

    Cons

There are routinely thousands of layoffs every year, which turns the work culture into an "every man for himself"environment. Employees are unofficially expected to work 10-12 hour days on a regular basis.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look into ways to balance profits without sacrificing culture. You will get better results long term from employees who are not chronically exhausted.

    Pros

Commission sales based on your efforts . You earn what you earn based on your work and your clients are your friends and partners in that work .

    Cons

Too much goes to pay New York salaries that do not help in the field with products that are not responsive to clients needs .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out in the field and talk to the sales force and find out what works with people in the trenches .

I have been working at Morgan Stanley

    Pros

Decent benefits and and pay (if you work with a high producer). Company name looks good on resume. Great co-workers.

    Cons

Easy to get pigeon holed in this position. Especially if you are knowledgeable and efficient. No opportunities for upward mobility at the branch level unless you want to become a FAA. I told my manager that I was interested in a tech training position and his response was, "Don't you like being a CSA you are so good at it!" After doing this for 15 years I find the work very boring. Risk of limiting your skill set.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees. If they express a desire to do something else in the company, work with them to fulfill their goals.

    Pros

The pay for a call center is competitive can earn $18.49 if you work shift diff

    Cons

Everyone is hired through temporary agency. So they force you to continue to compete with co workers and build a buddy buddy system with upper management. No benefits until hired on. Outdated training methods.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Manage employees based on their ability and not treat them as beneath you because they are temporary employees.
