I worked at Morgan Stanley as an intern

    Pros

They are a very strong company in the area of wealth management. The resources, the expertise, and the army of professional financial advisors is really first class. The team structure is great and people are very civil

    Cons

Regulations and changes to the platform from corporate headquarters make for a very bad experience in customer service and expansion of business. A lot of tedious stuff is mandatory which means lot of meaningless busywork.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to limit compliance, and start treating your financial advisors and brokers like what they are instead of turning them into some sort of investment banking offshoot.

I worked at Morgan Stanley full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Morgan Stanley provides a wide range of educational and professional tools for an employee to advance their career within the company. It is definitely the type of company a person would like to retire from.

    Cons

There are quite a few individuals whom have been made officers from the pre "John Mack" reign, that have no idea how to compose a simple memorandum, let alone manage people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is still some dead weight in middle management that prevent employees under them from becoming rising stars. Weed them out and release them during the next reorg.
