I have been working at Motorola Mobility full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Motorola Mobility is in a very interesting consumer space. Fast moving technology. With the Google Acquisition there is a new focus on software and experiences. Look for Motorola to start leading in the Smart phone race.

    Cons

Hyper-competitive industry. Inflexible dates due to the need to make key holiday advertising deadlines. Google has decided to move Motorola Mobility from Libertyville to downtown Chicago. The primary reason is to make it easier to attract top software talent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Motorola Mobility is known for great phones - as part of the MOT team you will get to work on cool Mobile gadgets with good people. Company has very good benefits

    Cons

Motorola has been slowed down by siloed hardware teams, too much turnover, and last minute execution.

I worked at Motorola Mobility full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great, products, services, and thinks ahead.

    Cons

Need to promote the products, like Apple does to get the message across. Moto has been around for 80 yrs...Show it!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just put the product in the magazines, the consumer needs to know that they are the best! As mentioned the LapDock was a hit. What a way to use your handset, and plug it in to the LapDock and convert it into a Laptop!! No one else has it. It should have been promoted to the masses! What a miss.

I worked at Motorola Mobility full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Of course getting to use prototype phones before they were available to the rest of the market was a pro. Also being able to telecommute and teleconfrence was a plus since the job location was about an hour away.

    Cons

The main cons were working with global teams that were in a different time zones and competing for resources. I sometimes had to attend late night meetings due to timezone differences.

    I worked at Motorola Mobility

    Pros

Good working environment, good manager in my team, close to my graduate school, a very good mobile company and so on~

    Cons

I think it Motorola Mobility is located in CA, it should be better for its development. And also good for its employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I hope you can provide more opportunitues for the new gruduates. Most of the jobs require previous experience, but if we can not go to work, how can we gain experience~

I have been working at Motorola Mobility

    Pros

Of all the companies I've worked for, Motorola was far and away the most technically oriented. Advanced engineers, technically oriented managers and was ahead of its time in quality assurance in the development programs. The benefits for pursuing education were also outstanding.

    Cons

Never really knew what the upper management was thinking. It was hard to understand how your role fit into the longer term picture of our operations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The huge emphasis on 6 Sigma and quality control made it difficult to do some relatively simple tasks at time.

    I worked at Motorola Mobility

    Pros

tech firm with a lot of fast pace things changing. Cool to see the new phones before they are released.

    Cons

management takes forever to make decisions. Seems behind the curve in some of the newer technologies. Maybe the split will help that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    stop hiring consultants
