Senior Program Manager (Former Employee) Sunnyvale, CA

ProsMotorola Mobility is known for great phones - as part of the MOT team you will get to work on cool Mobile gadgets with good people. Company has very good benefits

ConsMotorola has been slowed down by siloed hardware teams, too much turnover, and last minute execution.

Motorola is a company that believes in teaching its employees the value\purpose of their products. LapDock was a hit!

Product Advisor (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsGreat, products, services, and thinks ahead.

ConsNeed to promote the products, like Apple does to get the message across. Moto has been around for 80 yrs...Show it!!

Advice to Senior ManagementJust put the product in the magazines, the consumer needs to know that they are the best! As mentioned the LapDock was a hit. What a way to use your handset, and plug it in to the LapDock and convert it into a Laptop!! No one else has it. It should have been promoted to the masses! What a miss.

I am grateful for the experience.

Project Manager (Former Employee) Libertyville, IL

ProsOf course getting to use prototype phones before they were available to the rest of the market was a pro. Also being able to telecommute and teleconfrence was a plus since the job location was about an hour away.

ConsThe main cons were working with global teams that were in a different time zones and competing for resources. I sometimes had to attend late night meetings due to timezone differences.

    It was a good experience~

Software Test Engineer (Former Employee) Libertyville, IL

ProsGood working environment, good manager in my team, close to my graduate school, a very good mobile company and so on~

ConsI think it Motorola Mobility is located in CA, it should be better for its development. And also good for its employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementI hope you can provide more opportunitues for the new gruduates. Most of the jobs require previous experience, but if we can not go to work, how can we gain experience~

    Amazing for knowledge workers

Staff Engineer (Current Employee) Phoenix, AZ

ProsOf all the companies I've worked for, Motorola was far and away the most technically oriented. Advanced engineers, technically oriented managers and was ahead of its time in quality assurance in the development programs. The benefits for pursuing education were also outstanding.

ConsNever really knew what the upper management was thinking. It was hard to understand how your role fit into the longer term picture of our operations.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe huge emphasis on 6 Sigma and quality control made it difficult to do some relatively simple tasks at time.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Chicago, IL

Prostech firm with a lot of fast pace things changing. Cool to see the new phones before they are released.

Consmanagement takes forever to make decisions. Seems behind the curve in some of the newer technologies. Maybe the split will help that.
