I worked at Motorola Mobility full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Used to be a fun place to work where people actually cared. You manger actually cared about your career path and looked out for your growth.

    Cons

Constantly outsourcing and downsizing. It's like walking on a ice covered lake in May. Always have to watch your step and watch for the swinging axe.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on your people - they are the ones who made you a success before you started cutting their throats.

    Pros

Experience working in a large, corporate environment.

    Cons

LOTS of redtape!! I understand it is difficult for a large corporation to remove some of the issues with internal teams working with one another, but the company can be so much more efficient!

    Pros

The dynamic new leadership of the company as well as the vision and excitement of all employees is a sign that the once great company is again entering a growth mode.

The constant change and the downsizing of the company over past five years has been challenging and has had a negative impact on employee morale.

    I worked at Motorola Mobility

    Pros

In my department the people I worked with were great. The compensation was decent and the benefits were great. The Schaumburg area is also nice.

    Cons

It was a large company and you could get lost. You are more of a number outside your department. In my position your numbers were worth more then the satisfaction of your customer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to the management is to stop being driven by metrics but more towards the satisfaction of the customers.

    I worked at Motorola Mobility

    Pros

Research environment and it is valued

    Cons

Many middle managers are barely educated, not good at capturing who does the real work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rotate managers often for the health of the company. Otherwise, sycophants get away with less work and more rewards.
