    Pros

Good people who treat their employees fairly and with respect. Compensation is directly linked to performance. Hard working and diligent employees are recognized and appreciated.

I worked at Munich RE as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Supervisor is responsible, and there are a lot of platforms to learn, to practice, to communicate. Everyone is friendly there, and you are encouraged to ask and say out.

    Cons

Only limited time for internship, and competitors are from various fields.

I have been working at Munich RE full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The small things the company does are wonderful, hampers at Christmas, fruit delivered to our floors each day, and mostly really good, smart people to work with.

    Cons

Only just coming to terms with broader application of flexibility, real concerns about lack of visibility of staff, despite them delivering results.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust your team but don't be scared to ask them what they are doing, you're the manager!

I have been working at Munich RE full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Truly international company that provides great training and looks after its people exceptionally well. If you want to spend your career with one company, this is the kind of company you want to join.

    Cons

Downside of the above is that it can be a bit paternalistic, which does not appeal to everyone. It can also make it a quite political environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace a couple of top people and bring in a few catalysts of change, but don't change the overall culture.

I have been working at Munich RE

    Pros

    - great atmosphere
    - company cares (benefits, taking time off)
    - diversity in the workforce, not in terms of nationalities but more in terms of disciplines (engineers, mathematicians, accountants, financial analysts, meteorologists)

    Cons

    - employee turnover is almost equal to zero; many people only know the "Munich RE way" whereas some outside views might benefit the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - increase outside hiring of people who are both old enough to have gained relevant experience and young enough to contribute fresh and innovative ideas to the company
