    Pros

A lot of kind-hearted, valuable people work here due to the company's stated mission.

    Cons

Myriad is all about profit nowadays, but this greed is shooting itself in the foot. Departments do not work together to reach shared goals; there seems to be a rivalry between them. Employees are expendable and the morale is unhealthy. Low wages yet significantly more work than ever before. High staff turnover. Lots of poor middle managers, and a major disconnect between operation of business and science.

    Pros

I like my coworkers very much. They are good people and very good at their jobs. Company takes care of their sales people. Expectations of them are usually unrealistic but they continue work and perform well. 12 paid holidays, decent benefits (better than average).

    Cons

Management is losing touch with employees. They have many good employees that have been promoted beyond their competency. Company is becoming more and more sales focused. It used to be a very employee friendly environment but that has changed a great deal in the eight years I have worked here.

    Advice to Management

Business model seems very old-school. Need to modernize their time-off and work from home policies.

    Pros

Time off is stellar 3 1/2 weeks vacation and 12 holidays. Stock options and decent healthcare is available. Training is 3 weeks in Utah. Will utilize Insights during training.

    Cons

If you don't have a background at Eli Lilly, you will have a difficult time advancing. They do not provide any management training so they manage with "carrots and sticks". They offer a variety of personality assessment tests but the tests are never used by management to motivate.

    Advice to Management

You have great talent but you should consider letting individuals return if they leave to better your insight into the industry as most Fortune 500 companies do.

    Pros

Myriad provides opportunities for growth based on performance. It is great to know that everyday we help people make critical decisions about their own health care.

    Cons

Pay tends to be at the low end of the curve for all positions and they are slow to catch up. Resources sometimes seem to be insufficient which leads to high workload for a few.

  9. Highly innovative and focused towards the future

    Pros

It's very fulfilling to be of service to patients going through newly diagnosed cancers and providing answers to their questions.

    Cons

The management has changed and is making MANY people unhappy. No matter what you do, you're doing it wrong.
If you don't fit in with management, you don't fit.

    Advice to Management

    Relax!

    Pros

You help cancer patients get access to a really expensive genetic test.

    Cons

Management treats employees like slaves. This includes mandatory overtime on weekends. It's a pretty counterproductive idea as employees are miserable already. Sorry about your family life, but it's the end of the quarter and we need $$$$.

    Advice to Management

Figure out where you actually lose revenue. Look deeper in your processes. A lot of improvement needs to be made. A lot of waste happens due to 20 years of hiring bad employees and not caring, but it's time for a makeover. Do YOU know what's going on in customer service? Do YOU know what's causing tests to be cancelled? Do you know what it takes to get a test paid for?
