Great Intern program. They have professional development sessions to go along with your experience in your department.

NBC Peacock Productions: Corporate environment, but good benefits and reasonable hours

Current Employee - TV Producer  in  New York, NY
Current Employee - TV Producer in New York, NY

    Pros

Working at Rockefeller Center has many amenities and conveniences. The hiring managers, and Executive Producers, are experienced, mature, and OLDER than 40 for the most part. It seems like a place where a mature and experienced person can thrive, as opposed to many of the other production shops in town that seem to want to hire just out of college, inexperienced people at lower pay scales.

    Cons

The position is freelance, and only gets renewed for 12-13 weeks at a time. However there are some people who have remained there for over 2-3 years at this project by project basis.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the people that you like best by offering them staff positions.
Get better at selling projects to create more work. There is a lot of talent here, and Peacock Productions should be producing more projects.

    Pros

There was a lot of forward thinking and creativity. Flexibility on work life balance.

Congestion in the lane to grow in your role as it relates to the cable network side of things.

    Pros

Great benefits, Comcast is investing in the company, culture is generally very professional & positive

    Cons

Needed changes can be slow at times due to many levels of decision-makers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it easier for people to advance outside of their business unit. For as long as I worked at NBC I had very limited contact with those outside my business unit unless I specifically sought out networking with them.

    Pros

Good environment, excellent properties and managers who seem to legitimately try to balance staff's goals with the overall goals of the department and company

    Cons

Would like more access to other properties, more mobility

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you're doing by reaching out to employees with town halls and so forth. But would also be good if it appeared that these conversations went both ways, they can feel one-sided

    Pros

Depends on where in the massive conglomerate that is NBC's. My office had a fabulous talented, funny and hardworking people. Great networking lots of little fun perks.

    Cons

Keeping your position alive is always on your mind. TV is a fickle industry and it's amplified at this network is my general feeling.
