    Pros

Was all company gung ho when I first started as it was a new contract and everyone was friendly and excited. They have health and 401k.

    Cons

Once you started you find out that what was promised in the HR paperwork and told to you by Program Managers wasn't true. Phone allowance stopped after one month. Gym reimbursement is beyond you won't get - after all the paperwork and hops I received $8.63; certification reimbursement (education) won't happen unless the contracting office will signoff; flexible spending account again is more paperwork than it is worth; get hired and told that once the contract is settled that you WILL get paid what you are worth so take this temporary cut in pay; however then the contract does get renewed and you find that they just cut your pay 30% and moved their favorite protected employees into positions they are not qualified or know how to do. They sit around all day reading the newspaper and drinking coffee. There is no career advancement. They will say anything to you to fill a spot. The issue is that the ethical people who cared have left. They pay you under the normal because they can only win a contract by lowballing.

    Advice to Management

What ever happened to keeping with the company motto regarding integrity and performance. You keep hiring people who copy other companies past reports and turn them in as new work. You do not audit the Project Managers on the hosiptals, IA, networking, for Huachuca work. You really need to audit these people. Sierra Vista is a mess and look at those you have kept but transferred out of there. They are still doing unethical practices but now elsewhere.

    Pros

Reliable contracts. If contract was lost tried to find new areas for employees. Most of the people were great to work with.

    Cons

    Complaints ignored, or barely addressed.
Raises were terrible, even for excellent reviews.

    Pros

I got a paycheck, health insurance was okay but not great. Certification was paid-for but they have been tightening up their requirements so much so that applicants without current certs should really not bother. You get 1 month to acquire CompTIA Security+. Good luck with that.

    Cons

NCI is a bottom-feeder. They undercut all other contracts and then deal with the financial disparity through their frugality with their employees. Expect micromanagement, freakish attention to timesheets, and being treated like children instead of professionals.

    I worked at NCI

    Pros

Upper management was somewhat attentive to staff suggestions and observations. Aggressive early on about working with staff to please the client. Lots of training available if you can find the time to take advantage.

    Cons

Hiring decisions could have been much better. The firm seemed willing to hire anybody and let the client sort it out. This placed too much stress on us. The project manager could have pushed back against the in-place subcontractor but instead let the sub-contractor walk all over him.

    Advice to Management

Be much more careful about choosing project management staff.

    Pros

Pay is decent. Time off is decent. Flexibility in schedule. Very smart and talented team. They communicate how the bidding process is going but never tell anyone up front that even though they won a bid you can still be out of work.

    Cons

Too many rebids with chance for layoff. Total lack of communication between sites on job task specifics. Do not feel secure in this position even though my position is perm because of the rebids every few months.

    Advice to Management

In my mind with so many rebids my job is not stable thus I am constantly looking for work elsewhere. If you do not care that I can be cut at a moments notice why should I care about sticking around?

    Pros

It's a job. At a loss here, the parameters for this input require at least 5 words for Pros. Can't think of anything.

    Cons

10% pay cut 2 years ago. VP comes out and blows smoke about 'saving our jobs and getting the pay back.' Seriously underbids the contract and gives us all a minimum of 8.5% pay cut, some got 25% or put on furlough (fancy term for being laid off without severance pay). Plus a slap in the face by renaming our positions to lower level titles. Between them and NETCOM's lack of leadership or management this is a terrible place to work.

    Advice to Management

If you expect loyalty and respect from your work force, you need to give it.

    Pros

Great client and location to work.
The pay if fair to good.

    Cons

This is not a people company, a body for a seat, they take away holidays that were neigoiated, cut salaries, and lay offs all the time. Very poor middle management.

    Advice to Management

Start caring about people and not your bottom line.

    Pros

Some good people working to make a difference for our government and DoD

    Cons

Senior leadership keeps changing strategies to show the street they are making positive changes without much actual effect. Much of their talent has left and the company leaders who have made a difference were let go. Many of the new hires are from CSC reflecting the COO's past role at CSC. It is a very destabilizing environment contributing to poor morale.

Also, the amount of leave time awarded per year is low for the industry.

    Advice to Management

The number of new hires who formerly worked for CSC is making the current, non-CSC employees uncomfortable. The morale is poor in the workforce. NCI needs to stabilize the existing work and then establish a roadmap to grow instead of the current declining numbers.

Charles Narang is a decent, honest man who is a pleasure to work for; however, he hasn't taken charge to move his company where he knows it should go.
