    Good experience at call center

Former Employee - Customer Service Representative in North Charleston, SC

I worked at NCO Financial full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I love the work environment, the staff there were really nice. The work hours were great for me, my supervisor was awesome.

    Cons

The things that I had a problem with was that I couldn't transfer to the office closet to where I moved to, and the pay wasn't what it should have been for a call center.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase the starting salary for their call center employees. Provide a shuttle bus for employees working late that do not drive, more employees won't mind staying late if they know they can get home.

I have been working at NCO Financial

    Pros

The workkplace is very fun, and the people are great. Very good management are very good at assisting employees when needed. Very good hours either 8 - 4:30 shift or 9:30 - 6. Monday through Friday.

    Cons

The only downsides that I would say would be the pay. It is not the highest paying position, and also from what I understand it does take a long while for raises and evenw hen received raises are not very high, but still very workable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To be honest the management is excellent I have no complaints about the management. The immediate supervisors are great, and the project manager is very freidnly and very professional.

    I worked at NCO Financial

    Pros

Pay was ok for the area
    Flexible hours and schedules
Some room for growth and advancement
Fun work environment, great way to meet new people

    Cons

Some unprofessional supervisors and leaders ( not all but some)
    .10 raise after a year
Deal with unruly customers more times than not

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A raise of at least $1 will be more sufficient after a year of dedicated service, choose leaders based on there knowledge and experience.

    I worked at NCO Financial

    Pros

Management was very involved, and we were always aware of changes coming to the company. There was plenty of PTO offered when needed. It was a very close knit group and friendly.

    Cons

They would have mandatory shift bids and decide randomly who worked what shift. You received no warning for this, and I ended up having to quit because they wanted me to work a shift I am not able to due to school and my son. Also, if you have a complaint, there is no way it will remain confidential between yourself and management. Almost every member of upper management is related in some way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would suggest making decisions on shifts prior to hiring an employee and stick with that shift. You should not randomly change shifts at will. Also, hiring within family is never a good business practice.

    I worked at NCO Financial

    Pros

Can be a great place if you work for the right people. There are many good people who are the reason the company has grown to what it is today.

    Cons

There are a number of people who manage with a hostile stile and the company permits it in lieu of just getting the job done. It is unfortunate but it is often what defines the overall culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize some of the long time loyal people who have been forgotten. Opportunity has passed some by simply because they didnt fight for it in a culture led by bullies.

Former Employee - Customer Service Agent in Rockford, IL

    I worked at NCO Financial

    Pros

NCO Group management make a great effort to make working there fun with contests and promotions and bonuses to encourage hard workers.

    Cons

Expect constant changes in policies. I know they try to be consistent with the changes but when the client demands specific change they try to roll it out in stages but for most it gets confusing and our performance suffers because of it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There should be a better way of informing agents of policy changes across the board.
