I have been working at NCQA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Employees are hard working and are passionate about NCQA's mission. The company is striving to become a "great place to work". The offices are well maintained and there is a pleasant atmosphere. Every employee is eligible for an annual incentive which seems unique for a non-profit.

    Cons

NCQA has some outdated internal policies and management. Baby boomer management struggles to embrace the needs of a changing millennial workforce. There is also a widespread intolerance for error and downward communication can at times be sharp/disrespectful.

  2. Good place to work, great friendships made, limited career growth, leadership stale

I have been working at NCQA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule/Work from home. PTO great for employees there over 5 years. Meet great people.

    Cons

Limited career growth, new hires earn more than employees who have are promoted internally (usually have to apply to get promoted rather than be given the recognition)

    Advice to Management

Leadership needs to change, think outside the box, invest in developers resources, stop manual work.

    I worked at NCQA full-time

    Pros

The people are fantastic. Best place to focus on healthcare quality. Comp and benefits outstanding. Great perks, fun times including monthly happy hours and breakfasts. Workload is pretty good in most places. Opportunities for promotion from within.

    Cons

Upper management is really separate from the rest of the staff. People probably feel more challenged in flatter organizations. It looks too much like favorites move along and get the good work projects. Management in general too rigid and formal. Decisions made at the top with little real input from staff.

    Advice to Management

You really need to connect more with your company and it's people in a deeper way than fun times. We want to work together with you to understand strategy and to be more involved in decisionmaking and our own jobs. Get out of the board room meeting with each other constantly- Really? do you need to meet with each other over the same stuff constantly?

    Cons

A lot of inconsistency between departments and leadership Not much room for advancement in management positions

    Advice to Management

Ask management to deliver the same consistent message (particularly around policies) even if they don't agree
