Current Employee – been working at NCR full-time for less than a year
Pros – It's been around for over 130 years and is not going to go away. Corporate can be good and bad. Good because there is great job security (unless you do something crazy) and you can expect to be there as long as you want. Pay is good and PTO is very good.
Cons – Don't expect to get noticed. You would have to do something extraordinary (most likely on your own time) to even get on the radar. If you don't like corporate life, you probably won't like all the extra stuff you have to do (endless notes and details on disparate systems) just to do your job.
Advice to Senior Management – Open up to new ideas and invest in refactoring of under performing and badly written software solutions instead of just getting enhancements and bug fixes. Most of these can be eradicated by having a well written code base.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at NCR full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – NCR is a industry leader and has some of the most innovative solutions. Overall NCR provides good benefits, compensation, and solid teams. NCR has a solid Executive Management Team.
Cons – A weak Sr Management team that is not able to execute the strategies defined by the Executive Management Team.
Sr Management Teams are made up of individuals that came from recent acquisitions of small companies that lack experience and courage of managing a large global workforce.
A weak HR Team with lack of resources.
Company is headed downwards due to loss of some exceptional talent recently.
Advice to Senior Management – Replace Sr Management Team with more experienced and employee focused individuals.

Current Employee – been working at NCR full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – NCR continues to stay abreast or ahead of the market. Innovation is becoming a high priority, so should be prepared for the future and have great job opportunities.
Cons – There is always a threat of RIFs, with little concern for those terminated. Focus now is on getting out from uncertainty of pension obligations.
Advice to Senior Management – Truly practice what you are preaching about wanting to be a great place to work with balance of work and life. Take better care of employees who have been loyal and productive for many years.

Current Employee – been working at NCR
Pros – Opportunity to prove yourself. Many areas to latch onto. Strong player in home industries. Coworkers welcome help and interaction
Cons – Trigger-happy on struggling businesses. Very tight on employee benefits. Divide between senior management and hourly workers (middle-managers really get caught in the middle). MUCH of the company has been there for 15+ years and is holding on for their pensions.
Advice to Senior Management – Inject new blood with power and credibility. Don't jump ship after a year or two of mediocre results.

Former Employee – worked at NCR full-time for more than a year
Pros – Staff comitted to producing excellent products. Top equipment dealer for financial institurions. Also has increased profits by using 3rd party vendors for installations of equipment. NCR has positioned itself nicely and has a well rounded product line. ATM line is top notched.
Cons – HQ staff wear many hats. Sometimes hard to get technical assistance.
Advice to Senior Management – Add more tech staff. Try to retain best employees.
