    Cons

    not a sales driven organization

I have been working at NICE Systems full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

As a global company, there is opportunity to learn a lot about international business. It is a solid company with interesting product offerings. There is also great peer support.

    Cons

Lack of internal processes and controls. The environment as a whole is extremely reactive, with almost no proactive measures. Head count is a constant struggle, and positions are not being filled as people leave. Departments are very siloed, with a lot of finger pointing and inability to work cohesively. "Stressful environment" is an understatement, and employees are pushed beyond capacity. Leadership is very centralized, with no real empowerment to make decisions without CEO/CFO approvals. Work-life balance is mentioned, but the reality is that if you don't work evenings and weekends, it's next to impossible to keep up with demands during the work day. Mention of stress to management is viewed as being negative. There is pressure to abide by a vague global policy on day to day activities, yet exceptions to policy are the norm as people constantly escalate issues to get what they want. It's an overall exhausting environment, and peer support is what keeps most people there. Bonuses are paltry, and merit raises are less than 3%.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decentralize the organization. Get updated systems in place and establish well-defined processes and procedures.

I have been working at NICE Systems full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers. Everyone helps each other, is able to laugh, support one another. Salary compensation is ok

    Cons

Most (not all) management is not technical, which is not a good fit at a software based company. The VP over the support center tries to be everyone's friend then comes down on them like a nazi when his mistakes are reflected upwards to upper management. Changes made in the last year are having the senior support teams look elsewhere before the celing crashes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Numbers are not all that reflects on how well an engineer is doing in support. Sales overrides all at this company for sure, but the negative from the customer is reflected solely back on the support team. Not a good environment

I worked at NICE Systems full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Interesting technology, some good people, great pay and benefits

    Cons

No training. No support. Constantly upping the ante, but not providing any assistance on achieving it. Reworking company mission every 6 months, changing management constantly, no consistency. HR says, "if you don't like what you are doing, don't worry, it'll change in a few months anyway". Not a great place for women to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop training. Get some consistency and remember that your employees are actually people. Do not bully people.

High Growth, High Expectations, Lack of support

I have been working at NICE Systems full-time

    Pros

Has a strong brand and a great product. Strategic vision is coming together. Most of their employees go above and beyond what they should be expected to do to fill the gaps because of understaffing.

    Cons

There seems to be a glass ceiling for Americans, especially women. Everyone is expected to do the work of 2 people. It is hard to give high customer service because of lack of resources/investment in services and infrastructure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of focussing on growth for the sake of growth, ramp up the infrastructure so that your employees will be able to support the growth that you want.

    Pros

Nice coworkers and friendly environment to work for. The benefits are normal but nothing to go crazy over. Around a lot of nice places to eat.

    Cons

Company has no idea how to work with the American portion of the company. They will hire people from Israel and train them before they will give you a promotion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your American employees with the same respect you do to the non-Israel employees. Allow the Americas to work with people from here and stop outscoring the projects.

    I worked at NICE Systems

    Pros

Salaries are good, benefits are good.

    Cons

Salaried - means working 60 or more hours a week - no job satisfaction - US management employees are continually replaced by Israeli ex-pats. No employee/employer feedback on any corporate changes basically the attitude that you should be happy to have a job. It used to be a good place to work - but the senior management has no confidence in the US work force. You will work in an atmosphere (even if you are a manager) of no trust and having to prove yourself over and over. There is no respect for employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

there has to be work/life balance

    I worked at NICE Systems

    Pros

Great technology. Hard working middle management and subordinates. Many opportunities to learn leading-edge technology.

    Cons

Bias exists between senior management and non-Israli employees. Their most recent additions to senior management are ineffective leaders from other industries with very little experience in this industry. They do not seem to posses the right skills to lead large teams of professionals. NICE no longer puts clients or employees first and this, coupled with the harsh attitudes of senior management towards non-Israeli employees is giving NICE a notorious reputation as a terrible place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate and respect your American-based management team as they can teach you a lot about how to conduct business in North America. You cannot treat employees like they are in the Israeli army.
