    I worked at NIKE

    Pros

Great campus, and opportunity to enjoy good facilities. Certain departments have excellent opportunities for growth and employees in those areas receive appropriate remuneration and are enabled to create significant value.

    Cons

Inefficient, non-standard processes, slow to change. Managers do not understand what they manage. Huge disparity in remuneration, and only small annual increases no matter how much work is put in, how vital the work is or how your role changes. Management takes all credit for the good, even when not involved, but pass down their failings; lack of good work ethic and leadership, and overall focus on pet projects. Passive aggressive bullying takes a toll. Penny wise and pound foolish. Those excellent at the job are pigeon-holed, those who are not are promoted out.

Endless promotion/hiring of bad bosses by hiring only "technically" smart people that have ZERO leadership skills.

I worked at NIKE full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Beautiful campus, however, people seem stressed out with the politics and extra time it takes to make something move or happen.

    Cons

Employees that gossip seem to rise up because poor managers believe that gossip so good people are rated unfairly in the CFE process. I cried a lot towards the end. Never felt appreciated for the good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire REAL managers that can actually lead and inspire! They may not have ALL the exact technical skills but they know how to LEAD a team, inspire PASSION and RESULTS. Good managers grow employees - not glorify mistakes.

    Pros

    Flexible hours
    Great cutomers
    Amazing coworkers
    Great discount

    Cons

The managers are all about themselves
    The managers are very unorganized
Its all about making Nike better rather than helping associates move up and be the best that they can be.
You are overlooked and overworked as a person
You can never move up unless you beg and plea
    Pay sucks
You are not given any responsiblity

I worked at NIKE as a contractor

    Pros

Great company culture and fun people to work with. There is always some fun event going on and the resources on campus are endless.

    Cons

If you do not have a corporate personality, this company is not for you. It is extremely competitive and many department, managers lack interest in their employees. Pay is not great compared to other companies, but they tell you it is because of the "great benefits". Also, if you are a contractor expecting to have a job when your contract ends, good luck. You have to be extremely diligent and cutthroat to get where you want to be ,and you can expect backstabbing from friends and coworkers in the process.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a look at some of your lower management and analyze if these are the people who should be running certain departments.

I have been working at NIKE full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits for medical and dental. Free sneakers if you know the right people! A few good managers. Good travel benefits. Cafeteria has good food.

    Cons

Lots of negatives. Lack of cultural sensitivity. Nike doesn't promote minorities and doesn't recognize holidays for all cultures. I have had to work on the holiest days which is difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake up, Mark Parker! You are clueless about cultural diversity. I am a senior leader at Nike with many years of experience. I am disgusted by all of the two-faced management activity.

I worked at NIKE part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Swoosh Discount
Great team chemistry with your sales floor
Meet celebs and athletes every now and then

    Cons

    Low pay
    No room for growth
4 hour shifts(when majority of the employees commute an hour to get there)
Will not extend or grant more hours, but will hire more employees to flex for 4 hour shift

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better pay, Extend hours, Communicate with your fellow athletes, and do not act as if you're better than us because you carry an ipad

I worked at NIKE full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The pay is fairly decent and it is not a difficult process to advance in the company. The passion around the company is overall one of the greatest assets.

    Cons

There are a lot of times where promotions are given out rather than earned. The company basis itself more off of who you know to get you to advance rather than what you are capable of.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop letting good athletes walk out the door. Pay the people who deserve it and stop promoting those who become lackadaisical.

    Pros

    Discount, access to new product

    Cons

RETAIL, what they don't tell you is that they really don't want people from the retail side to jump to corporate, you are seen as an easily replaceable number, no employee loyalty, low pay

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

stop treating employees on the retail side as if they are "less than", as if they don't make up most of your revenue
