    Pros

A good office environment. Friendly, energetic coworkers. You can carve out a job for yourself if you take the initiative.

    Cons

A little too much drinking the company KoolAid. A lot of duplication by different departments reporting on the same thing, with not enough communication between departments.

I have been working at NIKE as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Contractor pay is good if you work in Tech (IT). Projects are generally exciting and challenging. Most of projects I've experienced are fast-paced with aggressive timelines and Nike will provide any resource necessary to help you get the job done. Casual work attire is also a big plus. If you keep your heads down, focus on the work and not ask too many questions, you can stick around for a while.

    Cons

Full-timers in several groups of Nike Tech severely lack technical competencies or solid skills. Most are there to play politics and climb ladders without owning any deliverables. Nike Tech brings in highly paid contractors to do the actual work because there's no talent internally due to the low salaries. There's a lot of politics involving FTE's vs. ETW's.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The new CIO should know this math well, hiring and retaining 1 employee who actually adds value for $100k a year is more efficient than paying 2 unskilled and incompetent employees for 50k a year.

    Pros

Great company that allows you to work on various projects. If you want experience in lots of areas than this is a good company to work for.

    Cons

There are a lot of politics so promotion is about who you know not what you know.

I worked at NIKE full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Nike is big, strong, great roots and great innovation. Decent health care for retail. Great discount. Best work attire you'll ever have for a job!

    Cons

Easy to get lost in such a big company. Very hard to move up if the people directly above you do not work with you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

At the store level it can be tough finding great leaders, more like managers.

I have been working at NIKE full-time

    Pros

Most people are great - shared passion for sport and the culture defines the company. Great storytellers, motivators. Diverse set of employees with interesting previous experiences. It's hard to leave the company because of the lifestyle that Portland affords you.

    Cons

Lack of career advancement for women and minorities. No structured support for professional development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way to diversify feedback from all types of employees. The nepotism runs strong.
