I have been working at NIKSUN full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

A colleague told me to check out all of the negative posts on this site and I had to post regarding commission payments, or the lack of. It is frankly absurd to say that NIKSUN doesn’t pay its sales people. Let me reiterate, it is absurd to say NIKSUN doesn’t pay its sales people that, actually sell. Salespeople seek out jobs where they stand to gain financially; if there is no money to be made, salespeople will find better opportunities. I have been very successful with NIKSUN and expect to continue to be successful, because I sell.

    Cons

The company has gone through a restructuring recently and that always has an effect on morale and leads to general uncertainty; uncertainty leads to rumors, and there are plenty being shared among the workforce. No matter the validity of the rumors, they are a negative…either they are true and more changes are to come, or they are gossip and a waste of time and energy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find other sales people that will help the current sales force make more money, rather than complaining about their inability to sell. Quell the rumors by being slightly more transparent; meaning management can tell the company that there are no more changes on the horizon.

    Pros

Friendly co-workers and management who are quite "down to earth." People here encourage you to be yourself and constantly improve both personally and within the company. As a developer I've being learning new things, they try to work with the latest technologies.

    Cons

Producing great technology requires Overtime and intense work at times. Not sure of how much growth opportunities

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend some time finding your superstars and let them shine! Don't put more obstacles in their way

I have been working at NIKSUN

    Pros

Always surrounded by brilliant people who push you to gain their respect
Company cares about and pushes its employees to produce the best product in our industry
NIKSUN emphasizes getting work done, not what time of day it needs to be done.
As said many times, we consider ourselves a family

    Cons

Having the best product in industry and being a smaller group requires 50-60 hour work weeks
Benefits could be better: floating holidays, 401k matching, better medical

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase the marketing budget or be more diligent about hiring good marketing people; having the best product doesn’t mean much if you can’t get the message out. Consider regular reviews of benefits and investing more in your #1 asset (employees)

I have been working at NIKSUN full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You'll do interesting work with really smart people. You will be part of creating great products and learn a lot during your time with the company.

    Cons

NIKSUN is not a Silicon Valley startup, and while the company seems to have a great future ahead, it's not a fast-growth place where you're going to get catered meals, massages, and toys to play with every day. This shouldn't be a problem, but since the company deals with cutting edge technology, people are reminded of all the perks and opportunities that abound in the industry.
As an engineer you will work “in the trenches” and will have a difficult time getting promoted and work-life balance can be non-existent for some.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote more from within. Continue your efforts to improve employee relations: events, the game room, celebratory events (employee baby shower) remind us that we are a family; continue to implement these programs/ideas.

    Pros

Proprietary product based company, provides a unique and engaging work experience. Ample time and space given to individual to grow his domain knowledge and be future ready, which works well for both the company and the employee.

    Cons

Six days working. Register signing for attendance (should be mapped to access cards), no contractual transport facility, no rotation / temporary exchange of employees between global offices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Kindly look at the CONS and try to fix them. Any such measures will go a long way in avoiding attrition and ensuring a happy and dedicated workforce which can only spell success for the company.

    Cons

work-life balance is determined by your manager. Can get hectic around the release time. No succession planning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No one wants to be stuck in the same position year after year. Strongly consider mid-year reviews, succession planning and merit increases.

I have been working at NIKSUN full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Too many negative comments so I decided to write the truth. I can speak for the whole team when I say it is a great environment where I am at. Great group of coworkers offshore and on-site with no egos. We have a director who does not micromanage and knows what he's doing plus he keep us occupied and out of trouble. He goes to bat for us, treats us with respect , provide us with good on-board training, shield us from all the negativity and puts us in a position where we are happy and successful. Prior to joining Niksun, I have worked for a handful of managers, but I would follow my current director anywhere he goes and is the sole reason why I came here. There are only a few managers in company that can actually manage, and my group has been fortunate to be under his leadership and hope he continues to lead us years to come. Other post said there is no management except the one in our group but I disagree. There is a Support group that have more people with longer tenure. In some instances they actually function much better than ours because they have more processes established. For sure, his staff speak highly of him and I have had the pleasure to interface with the director of Support and I must say he's a delight to work with.

    Cons

No pension or 401k match. Certain departments need to improve their communication. Not much employee appreciation outside of my group and too much finger pointing!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to what ex-employees say here. Employees and applicants do visit and read what is said. Try accepting the criticisms and turn them into a learning experience to make a real difference for a change. Strong middle management means good communications throughout.
Things are getting better so keep up the good work!
