    Pros

Make a living and be exposed to how a large company can work.

    Cons

Company runs at whims of the CEO with little ability of other executives in charge to make a decision. NRG is a very large corporation with lots of subsidiaries and tons of fiefdoms. Not employee-centric.

I worked at NRG Energy full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The pay is good for the area.

    Cons

management out of touch. upper echelon gets there with serious ethics violations. run by lawyers, not people that know how to run a power plant. don't care about employees or equipment...run plants into the ground. Retirement of employees is going to leave a HUGE hole in plant operations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do whatever it takes to keep well trained, long term employees. Hire managers that KNOW your plants. Practice what you preach regarding ethics violations.
