A place to work. There are better, there are worse. It is a changing company.

I have been working at NSTAR Electric full-time for more than 10 years

ProsAverage benefits, good pay rates. Has been stable employement in past years but this seems to be changing. The union still has a very stong influence on the company.

ConsChanging every year some benefits are changed which result in a loss for employee. Becoming an average comnpany to be employee by for benefits.

Advice to Senior ManagementGood luck

Great for networking and meeting people in energy industry

ProsThe atmosphere is quite friendly and there is an open floor plan. The culture supports colleague interaction. The cafeteria is good. It is close to the city of Boston.

ConsAs a government utility, it is slow to change. There is no competition against other utilities so the changes a normal business makes to beat out its competitors are not made here. Changes are slow to be made and people can be lazy.

Advice to Senior ManagementMotivation is key, but so is keeping your most talented employees. Run a stricter and more logical system that encourages competition and rewards for performance.
