Good to learn a lot early in your career, but make sure you get out when you can.

    Senior Hardware Engineer (Current Employee)

ProsLots of things to learn. It can be like drinking from a fire hose. Very open, few barriers to information flow unlike many large companies out there.

ConsNo opportunities for career growth. Not a growth company anymore, so stock based compensation is hardly sufficient. Salary is below industry standards.

Advice to Senior ManagementNot sure. Management is generally doing a good job. But, the problems Nvidia has are more endemic to the company, and the market it is in.

not a great place to work, nvidia Pune

Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee) Pune (India)

Prosnvidia Worldwide, has in general a very good work culture.
Information on all product lines is disseminated homogeneously and that opens up door to whole lot of knowledge base.
    Nice brand value.

Consnvidia Pune hasnt yet caught up with nvidia worldwide culture.
It is still in evolving phase from a service company culture to product company culture.
Expenditure on employees, salary scales etc, nothing matches the standards of other product companies in India.
Local management is not open to critical feedback.

Advice to Senior Managementnvidia, Pune leadership needs a complete overhaul.
Employee concerns need to be taken up more seriously and rationally.

Not a good place to work for

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Bangalore (India)

    ProsGood Salary
    Good Infrastructure
    WFH facility

Cons1. No place for new or great ideas. Putting wings on a Train and are feeling that it will fly is the mantra of nvidia India.
    2. No Documentation. Read scripts to understand the flow and read RTL to think about the spec.
    2. No growth oppurtinities. Even if you are having 10years of experience and are more capable, they will make you busy in digging and filling type of work. { Three positions: Design Engineer, Sr Design Engineer, <BIGGAP>, Manager }
    3. No Team work. Your manager itself will start competing with you in Work. Information sharing within the team is discourged by most of the managers here.
    4. Missing Leadership skills. There are more managers than leaders. No way to give feedback to higher management. Like a government company.
    5. Very high resistance for any change from flow or design perspective. Very bad technology flow...
    6. Heavy mail traffic but no work.

Advice to Senior Management1. Create Leaders and not Managers, As Leaders can take nvidia up while managers can make their managers happy.
    2. Local Management is good in politics than in their management skills.

    No rewards for good performance

    Design Engineer (Current Employee)

ProsGood Technical experience. Get to work on lot of tapeouts. Reward for good work is more challenging work.

ConsCompensation not that great. Have to work 24x7.
Apathy by middle management towards employees. Explotation is rampant.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to keep employee relatively satisfied.
Some of the middle management is incompetent, need to weed them out.

Right place if you LIVE to WORK 24x7

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Hyderābād (India)

    ProsWell structured development process
Good physical infrastructure that resembles a star hotel
Remotely located to focus on work
    Inspiring CEO

Cons- Site is Lead by Joker that makes no sense when he talks (or shakes)
    - No appreciation for Job well done
    - Politics played by Senior Management
    - No Honesty in the "Intellectually Honest" tag line
    - Force India emps to be non-performers to fit the bell curve
    - Local management is not empowered

Absolute no planning of work, day-to-day assignment, at most weekly, absolutely direction less. CEO has 4 years direction, emps have 8 hours direction. Exec staff, senior management has NO CLUE. Its always "I want you to do this, but again i might be wrong" by senior mgmt.

Reviews are PCCed - Productivity, Capability, Culture. One Director says P = C+C, other says only 1 point increment every year. After PCC, every emp is ranked. How can you rank 5000 emps? most of india staff is ranked low. If you walk-on-water, you are rewarded with 1 point UP and paid to market. If you do your job well you are paid 60% of what market pays. Every year 5% attrition is forced in this way to bring new and cheap labor.

Entire management including HR knows about incapable senior executives, but no action is taken since they are close to CEO, but emps are regularly pushed out in the name of PIP (performance improvement plan). Why this is not done for exec and senior management?

Site leadership is a joke. leader is joker. Crystal clear communication (written and verbal) by CEO is also mis-interpreted and communicated.

US centric, absolutely insensitive to local timings, meetings end by 2300hrs and start early!

Advice to Senior ManagementOpen cubicle is not the only policy to be enforced for all. PIP and 5% attrition needs to be enforced too! Cmon, wakeup and shakeup the senior management!

Join it, Increase your pay and get out of this company ASAP

Systems Software Engineer (Former Employee) Pune (India)

ProsPay is good that's the only thing I can say.

    Cons-Too much politics.
-Not a good company to start your career.
-In Pune this company actually did acquisition of a start-up firm. Now crowd from this start-up has formed a good family and most of the other employees you always find working for senior management's home need.
-Work Exp what you will get here is not needed anywhere.
-Too much of time to do donkey work.
-Even if you worked for 3 year your salary will be same what you had at your joining.

Advice to Senior ManagementShould hire some good managers.

    Nvidia needs an UNION

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsFor reasonable working hours.
To end the abuse of management.
    To maintain personal dignity.
    TO GO HOME DURING DAYLIGHT

ConsLabor camp like working conditions: "work shall set you free". Dear Leader like leadership, where Dear Leader is always nice ethical and honest and the dirty work is done by those below. Management only too happy to start abusing, to see how good it must feel.

Advice to Senior ManagementEventually this place will get the union.

Nvidia humiliate people by taking their family life and leave no reason for them to live other than to live for Nvidia.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Bangalore (India)

ProsThe only reason to work in NVIDIA is you are a "GEEK" or if money is the prime reason to live life for you. NVIDIA pays relatively better than market for which it takes much more from you as compare to market. NVIDIA is very supportive if you are in hospital, it can provide you the internet connection to be online and work.

ConsThey work for 24 hours in a day and 365 days a year. More you kill your personal life, more will be the appraisal for the year. The biggest drawback in NVIDIA is they work on the tools and scripts written by NVIDIA only which are not used any where else in the market. After working for 2-3 years in NVIDIA, people are not enough competitive to work anywhere in the market. NVIDIA doesnot provide you the space to learn things of your own. It will make sure that you will be always overloaded with repetitive work and cannot learn innovations. This is the prime reason that people dont resign from NVIDIA because they dont know anything in the market to get an offer. The previous analysis will show you that all who joined NVIDIA as fresher are left with no option other than going for higher studies if they want to leave NVIDIA.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe leadership is not very comfortable. The effective life of leads in NVIDIA is almost same as a fresher other than having a blackberry in hand which will occupy you more than a laptop.
