I have been working at NYSE Euronext full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Employee pay and benefits can be good, assuming you can get transitioned over to one of the ICE teams that has a future. There are still many smart people in development and QA, and if you have a good idea, it is possible to drive to through to implementation.

    Cons

The ICE acquisition has led to 50% staff cuts, in many cases people are being fired from NY or Chicago so they can be re-hired in Atlanta at less salary. They're loosing lots of financial experience, and expect to operate as normal. In addition, the Atlanta office is very secretive -- they will seldom call or email the "Branch" offices in NY and make bad decisions with their limited information. Dissenters who speak up are quickly fired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop screwing around with employees. Every day you turn one more screw to make things more difficult, and eventually people will leave.

I have been working at NYSE Euronext

    Pros

Good location, Smart People, there is a sort of liberal culture which allows employees to lead themselves during projects, however that depends on respective senior management. Some team might be more enjoyable to work with than others

    Cons

Inept career advancement, company was going downhill until ICE took over.

I have been working at NYSE Euronext

    Pros

Name, Prestige, History, People, Technology, Experience

    Cons

Hours, Effectiveness of Management, Collaborative Skills between Teams, Management looking out for Management, bringing in new personnel/consultants instead of looking/placing from within

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

NYSE was a wonderful environment where I have enjoyed many wonderful years and have gained a great deal of experience. However, the new environement is too siloed, no input from middle management up, new management believes that only the new personnel have value and personnel with history and understanding are too old and not as useful.

    Pros

Dedicated, smart, innovative people. Commitment to work life balance.

    Cons

Marketing department, which should be incredibly important to the organization, is full of mad max types, unfortunately in positions of power. Since they're not effective, and have big titles, they suck resources from an otherwise worthy organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Build new marketing department.

I have been working at NYSE Euronext full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

NYSE Euronext is a truly awesome brand, which can open a lot of doors. There are many opportunities for work abroad.

    Cons

The company is shrinking, so if you manage a team, it is difficult to improve your bench, since open reqs are frequently closed with no notice for cost saving.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think more drastically about what you can and cannot do so you can do fewer things better.

I worked at NYSE Euronext full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

There are still good people who are hard working, dedicated and invested in work that they believe is critical to the financial business world.

    Cons

Communication has gone from mediocre to just plain bad.
Equity side of company has been spinning its wheels looking to regain market share.
    Failed attempts has increased costs.
Exchange floor no longer important, management can't find way to fix that issue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get ready for ICE to clean up.
Time for exchange floor to become a historical museum.
Non-electronic trade volume from the floor does not justify cost of running it anymore.
