I worked at NYSE Euronext full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Company is Prestigious. Benefits are outstanding, Orientation and HR department is exceptionally good. Downtown NYC is a delightful place to work.

    Cons

Not sure how anything gets done. Confusion because of mass changes resulting from going public, new systems, many mergers and acquisitions and now the attempt to sell itself to a foreign buyer. Hard to find out what's going on. Seems to be lots of fear by many of staff. Execs take themselves too seriously. NYC Culture deeply tied into old NYSE--a membership organization. Culture clash between US and several European staff that is deeply entrenched. Massive security can make this an unpleasant place to work at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More transparency to all on who is who in organization. A T of O would help.. Must work to resolve culture clash because you have several organizations working against each other.

    Pros

People are mostly friendly and down to earth.
    Minimum politics.

    Cons

Sometimes it takes an extra step to get things done or approved. When you know it, it won't bother much.

I worked at NYSE Euronext as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

hands-on experience, lots of opportunities to explore different areas of interest. Good and constructive reviews from superiors who really cared about interns' experience and growth. Loved trading floor tour and the opening bells.

    Cons

Some formal training programs were cancelled due to unavailability of presenters. But no big deal since I was able to make up for it by learning in practice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

keep up the collegiate and collaborative morale when going through the merger process now.

Current Employee - Business Analyst in New York, NY

I have been working at NYSE Euronext full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Senior level transparency; Duncan (CEO) is a great culture builder and makes Business Analysts feel empowered to change and contribute to the growth of the company
    - Access to the historic exchange floor; from celebrities to politicians, one can see all types of interesting people pass through the exchange
    - Corporate resources and events; good perks and cohesive community

    Cons

Cons are usually group-specific. In light of the ICE merger, uncertainty reigns in some groups while other groups feel and know they are safe. The primary area for improvement is the syloed nature of various exchange groups and not knowing what others are doing, but that's most likely a result of any large corporation with a diversified revenue stream.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the communication lines open! Also, if you're recruiting top talent at the analyst level, make sure you have interesting, demanding, and rigorous enough work for them to do.

I have been working at NYSE Euronext full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The culture here is changing. It used to be very boys club and every group in it's own silo. The mold is breaking here as groups are collaborating and putting customer focus at the forefront. Lots of wonderful people here and truly enjoy coming to work every day. I've seen management find and remove many of the worst of the managers who were never meant to manage and things improve every year.

    Cons

Still have some roadblocks getting the more stubborn to become part of the team but seeing improvements all the time. You can tell that Duncan cares about us and although we are going through an acquisition right now I'm looking forward to the changes that happen. Change is good.

I have been working at NYSE Euronext full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Phenomenal experience. The best people in their respective departments get in to the NYSE Euronext. But the added bonus is the company morale. There is absolutely no arrogance or pride. It is a big team and at times a family. I really cannot overstate how wonderful it is to work here.

    Cons

The buildings are hard to navigate :-)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing everything you are doing. Especially the CEO & COO. Leading by example, you run the best company many of us have every worked for. Thank you.
