    Pros

The benefits package is incredible: excellent healthcare, accrued vacation and sick time in addition to personal time. Executive management is finally making strides to increase visibility.

    Cons

Departments that should be complementary to one another act independently, which does not contribute to a unified corporate culture. Partial dependence on state funding/approval causes purchasing delays, which can be very frustrating. Difficult to get a raise due to reliance on grants. Depending on your supervisor, you can be extremely micromanaged.

    Advice to Management

If you have postdocs, encourage them to apply for funding and help expedite their publications instead of spending too much time correcting their writing.

  2. Helpful (1)

A lot of knowledge to be learned, Poor poor compensation

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    - a lot of hands-on knowledge to learn that can't be learned in the classroom or by reading - ability to work independently and within a group simultaneously - minimal micromanagement - adequate supervision provided

    Cons

    - very very low compensation for workload expectations - supervisor is disorganized and inefficient - atmosphere is closed doors, lacks vibrancy, and is typically older

    Advice to Management

NKI could be improved by higher salary and supervisor standards, and cross collaboration between lab groups in a more personal, direct manner.

    Pros

The Institute's mission is vital to the lives of people with mental illness.

    Cons

The place is run by retired employees who are double dipping.

    Advice to Management

    Merit should trump seniority
