    Pros

It's a very large with a lot of resources and talented people around you. With quite a lot of training opportunities.

    Cons

Too much red tape with all the policies. It is too big for its own good. It just buys companies that make money. Trying to continually bring in these mishmash of companies and make them fit as is does not work well.

    Advice to Management

I don't often use buzz words but they seriously need synergy. Centralize certain aspects of your business. One group has no idea what the other group is doing or how they get things done. So much waste is going on it was hard to watch.

  2. Overall, it's been a joy to work here

    Pros

Good company overall to work for in Houston that gives one opportunities to learn different business sides and how it works in the oil and gas industry.

    Cons

Like in all companies it’s who you know that moves you up the ladder of success and not what you know or done for a better bottom line.

    Advice to Management

Don’t close the door on others not in your circle of acquaintances

    Pros

Friendly environment and career growth opportunities

    Cons

Salaries not competitive and do lots of top management restructuring

    Advice to Management

Invest in young talent and and build on cynergies within multiple companies acquired by NOV

    Pros

Work life balance is decent, but during crunch times you can put in many hours(i find this typical of any organization, though). Pay is low for the industry, but the job security is high. While our competitors are currently laying off thousands, NOV has done well to keep everyone on staff in Houston.

    Cons

Systems are old and antiquated, running simple reports are difficult and require much time.

Middle managers are often wrong, or unhappy, which creates some tension around the office, perhaps that is only at the location I work at though.

    Advice to Management

Office Culture pretty much doesnt exist outside of the corporate office, make efforts to change that.

    Pros

Flexible working hours, light work loads, freedom in what you want to do

    Cons

Weak management, no leadership and direction, no specific career path. It's mostly who you know not what you do which matters.

    Advice to Management

Open a channel of communication with your employee, value the experience and knowledge, shake-up the old management system which has no motivation to progress.
