Lots of opportunity to grow, but not a great work/life balance.

    Senior Consultant (Current Employee)
    Washington, DC

ProsThere are a lot of really smart people in the company, and you can very much take control of your own career development. Learning and training opportunities are nearly unlimited. Pay is competitive and the requirements for promotion are clearly outlined and very transparent.

ConsAs with any consulting job, at time it can be difficult to maintain a good work/life balance. Experienced hires may occasionally feel they're being talked down to or do not have the trust of management to do your job. There are a lot of rude, entitled people that work for the company, and the culture can be a bit grating at times.

Long hours, uninteresting projects, little payoff or advancement.

    Associate Director (Current Employee)
    Washington, DC

ProsInteresting and talented colleagues, some unique rewards programs and compensation models, and very dedicated employees.

ConsVery clique driven, and management is not open to any opinion other than from those "in the club." It isn't really a consulting firm - more like a high end staffing agency for distressed projects that no other firm will take. It is also very top heavy, leaving little room for growth and advancement. Compensation and benefits are marginal.

Advice to Senior ManagementSpend time on practice development. When MDs have 100+% utilization, no one is focused on the care and feeding of the staff, the business, or strategic direction of the practice. As a result, we take whatever the clients throw at us, regardless of fit, skill set, or fit. Also, your employees are not the enemy. Stop treating them as such.

RUN AWAY - while you still can

    Senior Consultant (Current Employee)
    Washington, DC

ProsThe salary was great, they basically overpay people to do menial tasks and use their compensation as the only way to keep them in a miserable existence.

ConsHonestly this is the worst place I have ever worked, or heard of anyone else working. It all depends on your practice area, but the entire financial branch and all practices within it are an absolute nightmare.

Senior management cares only about client satisfaction and have dismal retention rates, people are ALWAYS quitting. In order to succeed be aware that you will be playing the political game to your very last breath, those that are promoted quickly are willing to trod on others to make their way. In terms of culture, there is none. You will be screamed at, abused, called names, asked to work 80+ hours, to cancel vacations to work, work every weekend, and nobody will care when your health fails because of it. They utilize a TON of contractors and the projects are meaningless and do not change.

It isn't a consulting firm, you will gain no real skills, it's a temp agency. The work is mind numbing and you have to be in with one or two of the "right" people to get any responsibility. Don't waste your time with a full time position here, at least the contractors make overtime. Every single project is a constant fire drill, and don't expect training or professional development as there is "no time" for such things.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry listening to your employees and giving at least 10-20% of your effort to employee satisfaction. Yes, clients are important in consulting, but at the end of the day you need people to do the work.

Not a bad place to start, but try not to stay too long.

    Senior Consultant (Current Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsGood collection of people at younger levels.

ConsCareer advancement is very slow. The fact that it is publicly traded as well leads to dramatic cost cutting measures when quarterly estimates are not hit; the first expense to be reduced: labor.

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter upward mobility options.

Lots of promises very little follow through

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsNice people with flexible schedules. If you need to take a day off its not too difficult. Lots of free food to be found.

ConsNot alot of opportunities for administration to advancement. Pays alot less than industry standard. You can find yourself doing work above your paygrade and being taken advantage of.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore opportunities for administrative staff.

    Worst company I've ever worked

    Director (Current Employee)

ProsI've worked at five companies throughout my career and this is hands down the worst of them.

    ConsFalse promises from management
Did not deliver on anything promised when joining
    Terrible management with no mentorship
    Work was incredibly uninteresting
    Bonuses were a joke

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't flat out lie to people about what they will be doing and don't tell people the bonus percentages are targeted at 20%, then tell someone they are in top 3 people at their position and give them a 5% bonus, it's insulting.

    Keep yourself busy

    Senior Consultant (Current Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsDecent work life balance, room for growth

ConsCompensation is not great, leadership organization is constantly changing, emphasis on utilization

Advice to Senior Managementlook at why people stay and work on keeping that in place, in addition to focusing on why people leave and fixing those issues

    Do not work here

    Consultant (Current Employee)

ProsIf you are desperate to get into consulting, then take a job here

ConsThere is absolutely no consideration for nights, weekends, vacations. You are literally expected to be a slave. The attitude is that you should just be happy to even have a job. There is also no upward mobility. The leadership is unimpressive and uninspiring. The work is boring and monotonous. Its not really a consulting company, more of a temp agency.

Advice to Senior ManagementEmpower your employees.
